Young Darius, born Michael Darius Johnson, grew up with music being made in his family's basement in Muncie, IN (also known as Middletown, USA); with his father being a professional high school marching band arranger and composer. He had plenty of time to gain experience in his father's studio, in the high school jazz bands and concert bands he was a part of (he was a trumpet player), and the lyric writing he did throughout high school (which was therapy for him).
It wasn't until college (he's a marketing major and political science and economics minor at Ball State University), especially 2015, that he became serious about putting together hip hop tracks and beginning to make a name for himself, as a rapper who began developing an image as a rapper who takes on aspects of corporate culture, perceptions in the hip hop industry (including being a villain), perceptions involving being a politician, recording artist, and someone involved in political science and other sciences, and working on developing the local scene in Muncie, IN. He has recently gained attention for his better than expected lyrics and purpose for his work.
