Upcoming hip hop duo, Y.B.S stemming from Rhode Island recently dropped their latest single along with the video called “Fabrics”. The title alone leads me to scrutinize what type of cloth they’re actually cut from. Listening to the lyrics of the song, explores the interwoven materials of the essence of rap music, as quoted in their chorus “money, cash, clothes, and hoes” is the social norm in the rap culture. However, they’re able to take the concept and give a perspective thats meant for self reflection in the game. A lifestyle consumed of popping bottles, drugs, lustful relationships, emulating an “As seen on TV lifestyle”, there’s only a select few who set goals, create a plan, & take necessary steps to change the world. Young Bagz & Young Scholar drop rhymes speaking about the everyday problems we face as a community & the detrimental affects of following a repetitive formula, being a downfall to the next generation. Scenes from the video depict the duo observing the world from a rooftop in the hood, visualizing themselves being on top of the game in the finest of threads, and in another instance handcuffed behind bars, all the while still delivering a flow reminicesent of 90’s sensation Camp Lo with a touch of Lupe Fiasco.YBS gave me a story i was able to relate to, the hypocrisy of desiring fame, notoriety and glory along with the cost of the flip side, where its easy to sacrifice humility. They speak about how good things were growing up, when the only thing that mattered was keeping your parents happy. We tend to take for granted the small things in life that are our wealthiest moments in our existence. - Jack Thriller presents 16 or Better
It’s been a long time coming for the dynamic Rhode Island based duo Y.B.S but today it’s finally here Writers Anonymous the voice for the people. The project consists of several exclusive tracks with production from long time collaborators such as Ivy League Productions, Heart Stoppas, as well as Joey Arkane and Bonafide Beatz. The guys had a lot to say on this one so the features are few but I have to give a major shout out to my homie Phreddy J.B on “Quality of a Female.” Stand out tracks for me were “Tomorrow,” “Blessed Soul,” and “B.L.B.C.” Be sure to download the project on DatPiff and show Y.B.S. some love on their social media’s below. - HipHop Herald
Tired of hearing the same ol’ wack music over and over again? Well once again we deliver to you something fresh and most likely something you never heard before. Well I guarantee that if you’re into real hip hop, you will appreciate what you are about to witness. But I will warn you though! If you are the type of person that is satisfied with hearing the garbage on the radio these days, you probably won’t be able to relate what these guys have to offer. When I first heard the music from these kids, I initially thought to myself… ‘Yes!’ There’s actually some young heads out there that know what true hip hop is..’

With a well-balanced mix of soulful sounds and lyrical wizardry, Y.B.S delivers concepts that we can all relate to. The latest release from this Rhode Island hip-hop duo is a song entitled "What I Love". The song is inspired by a couple nights spent in Vegas with friends, as well as any other night people spend having a great time, when you have no worries and you’re living it up with the “day ones”. The repetition of “That’s what I love” in the hook allows the audience to connect whatever they enjoy to do with that phrase. Under Hit Academy Music, this is their first song released on the streaming services. It is available to purchase and Stream on iTunes/Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music. In 2015, Y.B.S. released an EP entitled, “Carmen,” which is a collaborative EP created and written by Y.B.S. and R&B/Soul artist, Phreddy J.B. Carmen (2015) represents any female in your life that you love, lust, or admire. In five tracks, Y.B.S. explains the story of meeting a woman, to having her as your “ride to die”, being tempted by other women, and losing her because of that. In that order, they take the audience into an adventure of thought provoking lyrics and memorable melodies, leaving people wanting more.
Both members of Y.B.S. bring their own flavor. Young Bagz’s being the cool, calm, and collected artist that delivers the wittiest stanzas that makes the listeners want to rewind the songs over. Meanwhile, Young Scholar is the unpredictable, yet direct one that mesmerizes the audience with his elegant flow on a beat. They balance each other out and their fans get the best of both worlds.
