The World Fiddle Ensemble is in the Queen City. They will be working with more than 160 children tomorrow at the Meridian Symphony Fun Fest. They will also perform a concert tomorrow that is free to the public. We caught up with them at the Temple Theater.
"I think I speak for everyone when I say that playing music is more than a job kind of thing for us. Playing world fiddle music, or fiddle music in general, is important because we're keeping a tradition going and passing that on." - WTOK

Bio
The members of the World Fiddle Ensemble met while studying at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Interested in both classical and non-classical music, the group became founding members of the Belmont World Fiddle Ensemble. Coming from different backgrounds, the members quickly embraced the diverse styles of music they were able to play together. The group enjoyed playing music together so much that they decided to form a band outside of the school ensemble, and the group, originally called the Staircase String Quartet, was born in fall of 2012. The band explores the capabilities of a classical string quartet formation in world music settings. After adding harp to several tunes, the quartet decided to add a harpist to the group full-time, becoming the World Fiddle Ensemble in early 2014. World Fiddle Ensemble is available for events, workshops, recordings, and concerts.
