Word One spent much of the early part of the tour spitting verses for DMX, showing the legendary rapper that he too had what it takes to share a stage. Word One, who was already in a label situation with a Sony Records subsidiary expressed to DMX’s manager Montana that he wanted to be signed to a label that acted as a family & had his best interests at heart. Montana, who was very impressed by Word One’s ability to control the crowd and work the stage, proposed that he manage Word One as well.
Following the tour, Word One met up with DMX once again for Houston’s Summer Fest concert series where he told an excited DMX the news of them sharing management. “DMX was excited to hear that news, saying “YESSSSSSS” when I told him. We talked about how things were going much better for me since the tour and that’s when X said to me that he ‘wants to be a part of it’ and proposed to me the type of deal I would have with him. I thought it was awesome.”
It was then, on June 1, 2014 that Word One became DMX’s newest artist and signee to Bloodline Records. - Press Release
His work spans far beyond the "local artist" label.
Referring to himself as a New York rapper who resides in Las Cruces, Word One (aka Grey Poltergeist) came to Cruces straight out of prison looking for a quiet lifestyle.
"Cruces has its good and bad points," he said. "The city has the potential for great things to come out of it."
Word One continued making music after settling down, but struggled to make his mark on the local scene.
"To get people to listen to it was a task in and of itself," he said. "At the same time, those who do show love show it in abundance and that makes up for it."
But Word One's experience in the rap game extends far beyond Cruces. With more than 700 shows under his belt, Word One came to Cruces with years of career experience. - The Las Cruces Sun-News
Los Angeles native and current New Mexico resident, Word One, was dubbed as DMX’s newest artist and signee to Bloodline Records effective June 1st of 2014. Word One came across DMX through strong connections in the music industry, thanks to close friends and legendary hip-hop group, Bone Thugs N Harmony, who invited the rapper on tour with them in El Paso, Texas. Flesh and Krayzie pitched Word One to the tour manager and 6 days later, he was opening for DMX.

Bio
Word One (aka Grey Poltergeist) has become one of the fastest growing names in hip-hop over the past year. He has opened the door for change in the music industry with his “Underdog Movement” by creating music and a movement that caters to your average, everyday citizen.
Word One is well known for his strong voice, lyrical concepts and wordplay, punch lines, versatile rap delivery, and of course, his infamous logo. It’s not hard to see the support that this artist has generated lately. Fans proudly wear his logo on their shirts at his shows, and even post photos of themselves wearing them. In a lot of cases, it has been known that Word One has occasionally pulled a larger fan base to shows than the major headliners who come on immediately after him.
After negotiations and development deals since 2011 with Deep Entertainment, Gracie Distribution, Universal, 101 Distribution, and Island Def Jam, Word One finally landed a record deal in August 2012 with former Sony Executive A&R Carlos “Sir Los” Jordan’s NuCompass label, which includes a production deal with J&S vibes (made of Jasdeep and Sir Los). Sir Los’ production credits include singles like “Coconut Juice” by Tyga, “King Wizard” by Kid Cudi, Soundtrack for the film “Battle of the Year (starring Chris Brown) and more. Together, they’ve released Word One’s first single “Act Up” which is one of the biggest singles to start 2013 by an artist who isn’t a well known name. His last single "Do My Own Thing" ft. Dorrough Music is still in rotation on radio station across the country and has even made a few top 10 countdowns as well.
Word One has worked with artists such as Kid Cudi (Pursuit of Happiness), Lil Ru (Nasty Song), Fat Pimp (Roll Me Up), Dorrough Music (Ice Cream Paint Job), Kid Frost (La Raza), Loverance (Up) and other established artists. He has even opened up for artists such as Tyga, Loverance, Destiny’s Child, Project Pat, Pinky XXX, Diamond and Princess (of Crime Mob), Bohagan, Fat Joe, DJ Unk, Party Boys, Trick Daddy, Trina, Mann, Maino, Goodie M.O.B., Troop, Joe, Mya, and several other big names.
In 2014 Word One linked up with the legendary DMX to land a deal as the first artist on his Ruff Ryder's/Bloodline label. You can read more about that HERE.
Be on the lookout for big things from one of the biggest names in hip hop to represent the El Paso and Las Cruces area. Welcome to the #UnderdogMovement.
