West Awake combines the talents of Brent Hopper (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Michael Crawley (guitar, bagpipes, vocals), and Mark Whalen (percussion, vocals). Blending the sounds of Celtic, folk, and bluegrass, West Awake honors the traditions of the past while introducing original songs and tunes into an existing set list which contains more than 200 songs and tunes. Fueled by the spirit of immigrant ancestors, West Awake brings a hard-working, blue collar mentality to every show, with high energy, foot tapping tunes and heart filled ballads passed on from generations gone. As Thomas Davis proclaimed: “But, hark! a voice like thunder spake, The West’s awake! the West’s awake!”
