July 26th will be Weathers Rest's first hometown show at Latitude 44 in downtown Sioux Falls, and they already have their debut EP ready to go! For the last few years this group of people have been known as The Sewer Rats, but after losing a couple members, decided to start fresh with a new project.. Weathers Rest. They blend genres of music in a beautiful and sometimes chaotic form, with catchy hooks and a somber intensity that can't be pinned down to any definitive description. Members Dan Nissen, Brogan Costa, Matt McFarland, and Natalie McFarland have played in numerous Sioux Falls bands including, Snakebeard Jackson, The Smoke and Mirrors Band, Sinking Steps Rising Eyes, and Examination of the... just to name a few. They certainly draw their influences from all across the board, from rock, jazz, blues, and punk to create a very unique and interesting result. Keep an eye (and an ear) on these folks, there looks to be some good times ahead.

Bio
Weathers Rest is comprised of four friends from South Dakota that have been playing in touring bands since 2000. They are an all original melodic rock band with elements of psych, surf, and garage rock. After forming in early 2013, they immediately wrote, recorded, produced and released their self titled EP. Their live show is always energetic and interesting, from beautiful ballads to fuzzed out surf rock, they will always keep the crowd intrigued. While writing and recording their first full length album, they hope to tour as much as possible.
Dan Nissen, Brogan Costa, and Matt and Natalie McFarland, played together in various projects over the years, opening for bands such as Dead Meadow, Minus the Bear, Scorpion Child, The Bodeans, and many more. However, they all started playing together in 2011 in a band called The Sewer Rats. After putting out two full length albums and playing a lot around the Midwest, they called it quits in early 2013. These four decided to stick together and form a brand new project, Weathers Rest. With influences from 30s jazz to 50s rock, 60s psych and 90s grunge, they carefully blend genres with a style all their own. They write, record, and produce all their own music which allows for a constant flow of creativity and creation, and with their first full length already in the recording stages, they show no signs of slowing.
