Feeling a bit camera shy

Wax Astro released their debut album "Figure 1" in October 2015. Reminiscent of primary songwriter and vocalist Jake Tapley's alternative country roots, the effort was equal parts Americana and indie rock. However, by the time the band got around to releasing these songs, the collective feeling amongst the four members was that the sound no longer fit the band dynamic. Having underwent a lineup change during the recording process, the band was now bigger and beefier than their modest folk roots. After months of songwriting and rebranding, they went into the studio in April 2016 to record their second full-length record. While this second effort still demonstrates singer-songwriter sensibilities, it is much more rooted in garage rock and powerpop than their previous work. The songs included in this presskit, "Ménage à Twois" and "Blackout", are evidence of this change.
