Considering how good the live demos on Wastrel’s Bandcamp page are, the release of their “Everybody Loves You When You’re Young” is something worth celebrating. The words they use are post-punk psychedelic, but it really means they’ve got burning energy and hypnotic compositions. The live show should really show this off, because all indications are that they are one of those bands that are “live” no matter where they are playing. In between sets by the opening bands you can discuss if the title is a reference to the life cycle of local bands or merely a reflection on the ironies of human affection. Either way, let’s just hope they make it to being toddlers, at least. -T.A. Wardrope - L'etoile Magazine
We often feature shows with psychedelic post-rockers Wastrels; it’s because of the trio delivers their riffs with a powerful guitar sound and pounding rhythm section that stands out in our already strong local music scene. (Think the The Cult at their most creative or The Jesus & Mary Chain at their most rockin’, just great stuff.) - Secrets Of The City
Midwest American rock trio Wastrels radiate out a rock n’ roll that showcases ‘loud & proud’ bursts of post-punk, Brit-pop, bootgaze and psychedelic rock charm... I certainly welcomed them all the way into my ear. - Forkster
