Urban Empress & The UrbanItes

 Kristin Urban, known as The Urban Empress, grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota with a strong musical background. Being born into a musical family helped her to develop her own talents in the early years of life.  In 1993, while with the Livity Niyehbinghi Choir, she realized her passion for performing and entertaining others musically.  

 Performances gather in a strong music circuit in the Milwaukee, WI area for over the last 15 years. The Urban Empress and the Urbanites formed a band in 2002 to find that they would play a big part in the local circuit. They now continue their strong reggae influence with various artists including Burning Spear and The Meditations, as specials for different concert series in the past.

The United States and Jamaica.  The band has been blessed with spots at Summer Fest in 2010,2008,2007,2006, Sky Line Music Series in 2008-2013, River Rhythms in 2009, 2011, Michigan Reggae Festival in 2000, Summer Soulstist in 2007 2008,2009, Bay View Bash in 2010, and Brady Street Festival in 2010, 2011, 2012.  In 2002, she started her own reggae band known as The Urbanites.  Finding this family of musicians allowed her to create a healing power of music.  Her vision has always been to reach people and heal people through her music, regardless of what their needs or wants may be. 

 The Urban Empress and many band members have also been teaching music and dance to children in the mid-west for the past ten years.  As a member of One Drum year 2004, she performs and teaches workshops to school-aged children and adults.  She currently is the music teacher at Milwaukee College Prep- Lloyd St. and leads the 3D Dancers and Drummers of Determination.
