TYRONE SHOELACES (Fairfield CTY Music Reporter)
·
The HORSESHOE CAFÉ'S "Horseshoes for Hope" second of five Acoustic Jam Fundraiser Mondays for Operation Hope took place on Monday, November 2, 2015. Under the organization of Bradley Clark "Horseshoes for Hope" is bringing musicians, music lovers, friends and patrons together on 5 Monday Nights to collect non-pershable food items and donations to help support the homeless in Connecticut through Operation Hope. Last year Operation Hope provided 159,000 meals to those in need, half of which are children.
The featured music act on November 2nd was TYRONE SHOELACES whose music genre is a "wild" and "sexy" eclectic mix of reggae, funk, and groovin' rhythms that surge one's music soul. The band members of this high energy band appearing that evening were: the incredibly creative CHUCK CHESLER on piano organ and Synth/vocals, the well- respected JOE MEO (saxophone, flute), vocal diva from Ruby and the Diamond Kings ELANA ZABARI, singer songwriter and pianist SARA GOLLEY, and popular jam band guitarist MIKE GALGANO. The band is a talented mesh or cross-section of musicians from various decades that communicate well together and learn from each other to add to this band's success. There is a positive interplay among the artists. The music at first had a Billy Joel feel which then suddenly loomed into an explosion of energy with an experimental, trendy, edgy flare with its techno/synthesizer sound that surges excitement and spirit to the listener.
The setlist began with the fifth song "Forget About Me" from the already released CD titled "Never Stand Still. " New songs introduced that evening were: "In the Garden," "Middle of the Night," "Cigarette Tune," "Closing Time."Additionally, there is anticipation about a forthcoming release of a new single for January 2016 and a new CD will be dropped in the spring/summer of 2016. Having been a Norwalk resident, Chuck Chesler said his new single " I Didn't Notice," will have a "Norwalk feel" with references to Lexington in Norwalk. The new record will use an electronic multiple synth--a synthesizer keyboard with a vocoder enabling Chuck to speak into the keyboard. Upon asking him about the meaning of the name TYRONE SHOELACES, Chuck Chesler informed me that the name means "Tie Your Own Shoelaces"….which he defined as "taking responsibility for yourself." From all that this band has accomplished it seems like TYRONE SHOELACES style is true to its name defintion--the band certainly has taken responsibility for itself generating musical momentum and who knows what might be in the future for music lovers of this band -- maybe a futuristic orchestral maneuver. - Facebook

There’s a positive interplay among the artists. Thanks Annette, we couldn’t have said it better.  Since the band's inception, Tyrone’s sound has continued to evolve into a wild mix of genres - rock, reggae, dub, funk, jam band and even some disco-esque rhythms - culminating in the third CD/Album, Shoot The Radio being released in March of 2016!

Shoot the Radio’s single, “In the Garden” and "I Didnt Notice" has already been featured on various Connecticut radio stations such as 99.1 PLR, 88.7 WNHU, 89.5 WPKN, Cygnus Radio and others, with on-air performances on others scheduled for the release of the full album.

Written, recorded and mixed entirely in Norwalk CT, Shoot The Radio takes on a Norwalk feel with a reference to Sheffield Island on In The Garden and the song I Didn’t Notice which is about growing up on Lexington Ave in South Norwalk.  Proud to put Norwalk, CT on the map, the album features a rap by Norwalk native Leo TheFuture Futerelli and was mixed by three-time Grammy winner & Norwalk resident Phil Magnotti.  The album cover was created by another Norwalker, Dave Lindsay of Lindsay Media.  This record truly captures Tyrone's ever evolving sound and mash up of genres. It has a much more reggae feel and incorporates some electronica dub for the first time.

The title song, Shoot The Radio has a simple reggae shuffle beat which then morphs into a rap featuring Leo TheFuture Futerelli and his take on growing up with the radio.   The first single, In The Garden  was released on February 12, 2016 and the full album will be released on March 4, 2016 with the sterling efforts of Rabbit House Records
