"EMME Recording Artist Troyman Revisits the Golden Era of Hip Hop and Pays Homage to Run DMC with His Latest Single "Miii A.D.I.D.A.S""

EMME recording artist TrOyMaN has raised the bar once again for others to follow with his latest single release "Miii A.D.I.D.A.S." Inspired to create a record that would bring the essence of true hip hop back to a music genre that is currently oversaturated with "HiP PoP" and music that lacks substance TrOyMaN sets out to prove to the world that Hip Hop is not just a music genre but it is a Lifestyle that should be expressed through his music as a self proclaimed "SoN of HiP HoP".

"Miii A.D.I.D.A.S" is a track that will undoubtedly take the hip hop music scene by surprise with its innovative production and the lyrical genius of Atlanta based artist TrOyMaN whom critics have been hailing as the next to blow since he burst on the scene with his debut single "Anything" that gained rave reviews from consumers and hip hop music critics alike.

While reintroducing a new generation of hip hop lovers to the "Adidas" brand TrOyMaN has found a way to bring a fresh and innovative twist to a song concept originally recorded and performed during a time that is still often considered the "Golden Era of Hip Hop" by one of his mentors Daryl "DMC" McDaniel and his trailblazing platinum selling group Run DMC on their ground breaking Raising Hell album.

Continuing to run with the torch that set the bar more than 25 years ago as it relates to bridging the gap between hip hop music and the Adidas brand TrOyMaN version driven by a powerful baseline is sure to gain heavy rotation on radio and in the clubs both domestically and internationally.

When asked the question why try and recreate a hip hop classic? TrOyMaN states with conviction, "I feel that with each new project I must challenge myself to give my rapidly growing fan base the type of music that they deserve as consumers and I felt what better way to do that than to take them back to a time when hip hop was fresh and innovative."

"Miii A.D.I.D.A.S" is currently available through online retailers and a limited edition remix version of the song which is currently in production has been scheduled for a mid-summer release that will feature a guest appearance by Daryl "DMC" McDaniel. - PR.com

"TrOyMaN"

Who is TrOyMaN, and where are you from?

TrOyMaN is Troy Curry born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Oakland, CA (and Lawrenceville, GA)

How did you discover your musical talent?

I actually discovered my love for music when I was 3 yrs old and by the time I was 4 I was lip syncing Ambitionz Az A Rider from the 2 Pac All Eyes On Me album LOL. I remember just loving music and singing and rapping everything I heard on the radio. I guess I discovered my musical talent when I was about 11 or twelve when I wrote my first rap it was whack of course LOL but I knew then that I love to rap.

Who has been your greatest inspirations musically and why?

Tupac has been my greatest inspiration musically because he had so much wisdom in his music and he masterfully delivered messages to the masses. Just as skillful as he was a lyricist he studied the art of acting and became a seasoned actor. He also inspired me to become an actor so when I got to chance while in high school I studied theater and later became an International Thespian Society member.

What do you feel you offer the music industry that we don't already have in other performers?

Showmanship! I feel that a lot of the performers (mainly hip hop) do not have any stage presence or performance abilities. I mean I don’t know about you but if I’m going to pay $60 for a ticket to see an artist I want to see a performance a production sort to speak not somebody walking back and forth across the stage or a stage filled with a bunch of dudes standing there doing absolutely nothing serving no purpose whatsoever. I’m bringing back the essence of hip hop where lyrics along with music and live performances makes sense. The other things that I don’t do is use profanity or degrade women. Hip hop wasn’t created on that and I feel that I don’t have to do that to get my point across, sell records or to be accepted. And I will not disrespect the forefathers of hip hop by doing so. Lyrically I can hang with the best of them that do have music like that and I refuse to be put in the same category. We have enough “Cliche` Ignorance” in the music industry as it is don’t you think? LOL

Have you encountered any problems in getting to this point in your career?

YES! lol my age was a thorn in my side for years. It was my biggest obstacle because I started my career at such a young age. It kept me from being able to perform at a lot of places because most were held at venues where you had to be either 18 or 21.

What do you want people get from your music?

I would like for people to get a message from my music. Whether it’s about love, violence or having fun and living life. I want people to enjoy it.

When can we expect some new music from you?

I actually just released my mixtape “CHiLL^X!” It has 12 tracks on it and has been getting some great feedback and is being accepted pretty well.

What changes do you feel that need to be made in the music industry?

I feel that there needs to be more hip hop music diversity in the music industry. Starting with the record labels, then the DJ’s and then the radio program directors. There also needs to be more accountability for what is being played on the radio and fed to the youth. Nobody wants to be accountable or accept responsibility anymore. Oh and I think there needs to be a rap school of some sort because then a lot of these rap artist that are coming out that don’t really have the skills would be held back until the have met the needed requirements just like when you have to receive a diploma or certificate for any other type of career.

What direction do you see the music industry going?

I said it before and I’ll say it again “To hell in a handbasket” LOL. Honestly though if the music keeps being as derogatory as it has been and is currently, it’s going to continue to go in a downward spiral. It seems as though Ratchetness has become an epidemic and Cliche` Ignorance is the in thing and nobody gives a damn. I mean don’t get me wrong a little cliche’ ignorance here and there is good for the soul but for the industry to be saturated with it is all bad.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

There have been a few achievements that I consider to be my greatest. The first was when I was selected as The MTV Rock Your Fashion Best Hip Hop Artist Atlanta, The second one was when I became a BET’s 106th & Park Wild Out Wednesday first place winner and my most recent greatest achievement was winning the 2013 Atlanta Underground Music Awards “Best Male Hip Hop Artist” award. Don’t get me wrong I consider all of my achievements great but those are probably my top 3.

If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Ok I have to give you one living and one dead lol. My dead artist would be none other than the late great Tupac Shakur because to me he was the best to ever do it and I respect him on so many levels. My living artist would be Miguel because Miguel’s approach to music is so diverse that we couldn’t help but to have a dope record.

One track of yours that you think defines you and why?

The one song that I have that best defines me is a track called “Breezin’ On By”. The track contains the Seals & Croft Summer Breeze original sample. At the time I recorded it I couldn’t get a sample clearance because Jay-Z had it on lock until September of last year LOL. But now I can revisit that track and hopefully have a smash. It best describes me because it was like a reflection of my life and what I had gone through, was going through and my outlook on my life.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know...What's your CRAZIEST "Where they do that at?!" moment…

Wow I think my CRAZIEST and RATCHET moment would have to be when I went to perform at this music conference in Ohio. They had a panel of industry people there to listen and maybe critique the performances and on the panel was Shalik Berry from Def Jam and Jazze Pha. After about an hour of the artist going up to perform one after the other I look over at the panelist and I see them passing a Kentucky Fried Chicken Bucket down the panelist table during the performances [SMH]. I was like you have gots to be kidding me and “Where they do that at?”. I thought that has got t be the most disrespectful thing that I have ever seen panelist do at a conference. It makes the artist feel that the panelist weren’t paying them or their music any attention. I do believe that was the LAST conference I ever went to or performed at.
