Looking at the rise of the DMV’s underground scene in the last couple of years, there is no doubt that the artists shaping the culture within the region are poised for national exposure. Similar to the explosion South Florida’s scene experienced in 2017, the DMV’s unique flow, cadence, and production style have the potential to shape the mainstream’s aesthetic just as their predecessors. Coming out of Virginia, Trizzy Grams is one artist out of a talented group forming his own lane via his balance of melody and grit that is allowing him to gain notoriety in the process. Gram’s chemistry with producers and fellow artists OkayCozy and INDIEWOOD facilitates their cohesive sound as seen through standout tracks like If I Had, Tatum, and Tryin’. Furthermore, with support from mainstays like 24HRS and Private Club Records to promising upcomers in Austin Skinner and 1500 (Forever World) as well as 7200 (TXMRXC Records) with Kwad and the young visionary Najeemir, Trizzy is poised to have an inevitable glow up in 2019.
