INDIE ARTIST TOUGH ON FRIDAYS INCHES THEIR WAY FURTHER TO ASCENSION WITH UPCOMING SINGLE LITTLE ITALY
Posted on 7th May 2019
“Little Italy” is the upcoming track from Alt Rock duo Tough on Fridays, and with a riff-style reminiscent to what we came to perpetually adore from Iggy’s iconic track “the Passenger” you can be sure that you’ll find the same infectious rhythm. Yet, vocally and lyrically Tough on Fridays set themselves apart with their infectious take on Pop Rock.
Their ability to orchestrate sticky-sweet choruses definitely shouldn’t be underestimated. They may borrow inspiration from artists such as Paramore and Green Day, but the Georgetown Texas duo has managed to fuse a contemporary resonance within their style. It’s been a while since we’ve been this excited by a Pop Rock artist, but Little Italy is all the proof that you need that Tough on Fridays isn’t your average up and coming duo. Their sense of passion is palpable in their sound, and there’s nothing more refreshing than that.
You can check out Little Italy for yourselves, and their earlier released singles via Spotify.

Review by Amelia Vandergast - ANR Factory
Get ready for absolute pandemonium in “Let Down!” The track is a Punk pop gem that does everything in its power to pick up your mood, and trust me, their efforts payoff. With the assistance of 3x Grammy Winner, Tre Nagella, for both mixing and co-producing purposes, the duo was able to present listeners with three minutes of exciting guitar-play, boisterous vocals and heavy-hitting drumming. In addition to that, both Katie and Caleigh were able to deliver some pretty inspirational lyrics on their verses, as they do their best to encourage individuals who have dealt with relationship issues to overcome their hardships by finding their true selves, while also leaving their ‘old news’ behind in the dust. - The Ratings Game
I think the reason that I find Tough on Fridays such a breath of fresh air is that in a world of indie bands with skinny jeans and complicated hair, macho rockers and dead-behind-the-eyes pop starlets, they remind me of the bands I grew up listening to in my post-punk, formative years. Just with the odd American twist and state-side twang. They make a glorious racket for sure but it is one that is delivered fairly straight – melody and infectiousness are more important than showing off their own musical prowess – and the songs are honest and relatable. Summer is the perfect summation of all that.
It runs on raw and riotous rhythms, gives pop a run for its money, reminds indie that it doesn’t have to try so damn hard, that being cool is something that you either have or you don’t…these girls have it by the ton…and shows most rock music up to be the cliche ridden testosterone fuelled realms that he have always known them to be. It is short, sharp and snappy and offers up a great reminder to us more aged types of what it is like to be young, reckless and slightly unsure of who you are. Perfect. - Dancing About Architecture
It’s no surprise that Indie Band Guru is a big fan of Texas grunge-rockers, Tough On Fridays. Throughout the length of the pandemic, no matter how dismal things looked, Tough On Fridays was there to deliver us raw, unadulterated music to help us make it through. The year’s end is no different for them. Fresh off of the release of the sophomore album A Fantastic Way To Kill Time in September, Tough On Fridays are back with more with their new hit “Undone.”
Out December 18th, “Undone” is the new quintessential friendship break-up song. This single tells the story of a friendship turned sour, tainted by selfishness and lack of perspective. From the opening bassline you can tell that “Undone” is not here to sugar-coat anything. It’s packed to the brim with the angst and grit that fans have come to know Tough On Fridays for.
The apathy present throughout Caleigh’s vocals and the snappy bassline dictates the mood of the entire track. Her voice says ‘I don’t care’ but the lyrics show the deeper anger behind each word. “You’re in misery. Stay far from me. I want out of your fucked up game.” Powerful and determined not to be the victim, Tough On Fridays comes out on top in “Undone.”
“I really wish you were special. No one was miserable like you.”
Tough On Fridays are holding nothing back with “Undone.” Every second of the track is emotionally charged. Whatever anger was felt while writing this track translated perfectly into this flawless grunge-rock package, making “Undone” a contender for the most riveting Tough On Fridays yet. Don’t miss out on their next chapter. - Indie Band Guru
Tough On Fridays never hold anything back when they make music.
Tough On Fridays is on fire! Right now, their music is getting major burn in not only the United States but also places like Europe and Japan. What I love about the duo is that they make music that feels raw, exhilarating, and rebellious. They also do a fantastic job of talking about real s**t in their music. With that being said, on July 3rd, Tough On Fridays will release a powerful new single titled “Simplicity III.”
Simplicity III features two songs (Simplicity III replicates older 7″ types of vinyl): “Out Of The Blue (The Deep End)” and “Lonely Eyes/Pine.” “Out Of The Blue (The Deep End)” features an intoxicating instrumental, hypnotizing melodies, a fearless vocal performance, and lyrics that will remind you what living on the edge feels like. On “Lonely Eyes/Pines,” Tough On Fridays sound a lot more subdued, as, on the song, they let both their guitar and lonely hearts bleed throughout. Though the two songs have different styles, they work really well together.
Simplicity III is a body-of-work that is lively, emotional, and beyond delightful. On July 3rd, you will get a chance to hear it on every major streaming service. - Ratings Game Muic
With a reputation for high-powered melodies and energetic performances, US-based Tough On Fridays has become a force to be reckoned with. Embracing angst, rage and plain “pissed off-ness”, this talented trio are gaining coverage across the globe from publications like Rearview Mirror, Indie on the Move, Indie Band Guru and A&R Factory (to name but a few). Following their well-received album full-length album A Fantastic Way To Kill Some Time, the trio release the latest single ‘Undone’.
A fusion of grunge, emo and alternative rock, Tough On Fridays is a hard-hitting slap in the face regardless of the song being played. Combining pounding drums and dynamic guitars with Caleigh’s intriguing vocals, the group are distinctive amidst a sea of grunge wannabees. Unlike previous tracks like ‘Party Scene’ and ‘Pleased To Meet You’, ‘Undone’ has a heavier melodic metal influence – think Five Finger Death Punch meets Stone Sour. Yet, while there is a darker quality to ‘Undone’, the overall melody is smooth and flowing.
Despite having a strong 21st-century alternative rock feel, Tough On Fridays drags old-school garage rock into the mix. The bold guitar solos and pounding drums, particularly in the opening chords, have a Nirvana-esque quality. Yes, vocalist Caleigh may have a unique tone and timbre, but the brashness places her amidst the likes of Courtney Love (Hole) and Maureen Herman (Babes In Toyland). Gritty, dark and painfully raw, ‘Undone’ is Tough On Fridays greatest achievement and a sure sign of good things to come.
