Columbus, Ohio (December 7, 2018) – As the temperature outside was dipping into the teens, inside the Tequila Cowboy in Columbus, OH, it was about to heat up! The Todd Michael Band was in town to entertain all in attendance tonight.
We arrived early tonight and after checking in, it was time for food. With a generous menu filled with burgers, pizza, wings, and more, there was plenty of good stuff to pick from – at a great price. Most of the crowd had the same idea, as tray-after-tray of food was being hauled out of the kitchen, and quickly. After tackling a tasty burger and fries, it was time to get to work as the Todd Michael Band had just fired up the stage with “The More I Drink” by Blake Shelton.
The format tonight was a solid three hours of some of the hottest party country songs, with a few rock tunes tossed in. By the second song, dancers had accumulated on the dance floor in front of the stage. What started off with about a dozen dancers soon became a full dance floor!
As Todd Michael worked the crowd from the front of the stage, his backing band was on-point tonight. With Rob Dutcher (Lead Guitar), Phil Figlioli (Rhythm Guitar), Bruce Shew (Bass), and Joe Goleski (Drums), they had this place rocking… well country rocking at least. Their great selections of guitar-led country allowed for a solo every once in while, and these five were having as fun on stage as the crowd was having.
Todd even entered the crowd several times through the evening allowing some up-close and personal entertainment. About halfway through the night he even led the crowd in a rendition of “Happy Birthday” for a lucky lady out celebrating this night. It wasn’t the only birthday shout-out either as lead guitarist Rob Dutcher dedicated Brown Eyed Girl to his daughter for her birthday.
The entire evening had a festive vibe. The Tequila Cowboy was all decked out for the upcoming holidays which added to the already highly decorated stage and surroundings. There was not an area that was safe from the glow of the neon or LED lights.
The layout of the venue made for as much interaction with the band you wanted, to as little as you wanted. Being a two-story building, it featured a wrap around balcony with a full view of the stage below. The balcony featured a bar and several pool tables which were getting heavy play as the music flowed nicely through the entire venue.
As the Todd Michael Band continued throughout the evening, they stitched together their playlist using some of the best modern country, classic country, and rock ‘n roll songs out there. The music fit the crowd perfectly. With age ranges from 21 to 61, everyone was enjoying themselves on the dancefloor and beyond. Whether they were playing Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dierks Bentley, or Lynyrd Skynyrd the night was a serious throwdown filled with rocking country!
The venue continued filling up as the night went along. As the crowd sang along and danced, Todd was in control of the lyrics and the crowd alike. Check this group out if they are in your area anytime soon. If you like to party and do it country style, you will not go wrong. - Splice Magazine
The Todd Michael Band is next on stage. Todd and his band come out with a fury of country rock hits that get the crowd up on their feet and dancing. With new country sounds of Luke Combs “When It Rains It Pours”, and Brothers Osborne “It Ain’t My Fault”, they attract the new young crowds, while hit songs by Don Williams “Tulsa Time” keep the older crowd enticed also. Including his soon to be released debut single, “Amnesia”, he for sure makes people sit up and pay attention to him. Todd adds his favorite song, “All My Friends Say”, by Luke Bryan, while blending in a snippet of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” for his rowdy crowd! Announcing that he will be opening for Brett Young later in the year, Todd also performs “Sleep Without You”.
With a who’s who of a cast of musicians behind him, Todd is welcomed on stage by Robert Amatangelo on bass guitar and vocals; Joey Amatangelo on drums; Pete Kane on guitar and Randy Hagle on guitar. The Todd Michael Band formed in 2017 in Saginaw, MI and is already turning promoters heads as they continue to open shows for national touring artists. - Splice Magazine
