"Album review - "RITE ON TIME""

Tiger County Regulators is a power trio from Atlanta, Georgia, consisting of Taylor Long (vocals, guitar), Daniel Taylor (bass) and Kyle Weston Watkins (drums). A trio that shows on their third album that they can pleasantly mix influences from 70's rock with influences from grunge.

Welcome Back, for example, is a song in which the band, after a dark psychedelic intro, immediately rocks away at full speed. In a heavy, grooving Mountain style with hidden psychedelic influences and a grunge-like energy.

In the very powerfully pumping Bad Trip, grunge is also mixed with Classic Rock influences, which again brings to mind Mountain but also Grand Funk Railroad. Transcendence is a dirty, angular riffing song with groaning guitar work.

The funk is quite present a number of times on this album, such as in the angularly funky La Cascada with fierce cutting guitar riffs and in Crystal's Ball, which opens with the fat funk bass of Daniel Taylor. An energetic funky song with the necessary Red Hot Chili Peppers influences.

The Peppers are also present in the restrained funky Savannah's Shoebox and especially in Center Of The Sun in which guitarist and singer Taylor Long shows a John Frusciante/Jimi Hendrix-like sound. Something Major opens with funky bass playing and almost Robert Fripp-like guitar work and then continues as a languidly grooving song.

This Tiger County Regulators album will appeal to fans of Classic 70's rock as well as fans of grunge and Red Hot Chili Peppers! - Bluestown Music
