Forged from the ruins of several Toronto-based rock outfits, The Regrettables' knack for underscoring their feelings with arresting guitar licks, loud drums, and haunting melodies evokes nostalgia for the 90s while also encapsulating the what-the-fuck-is-even-happening of here and now. Or something like that.
Their recently released EP, self-produced and equally self-reflective, showcases the boundless creativity of guitarist Brendan Tomotsugu, as well as the poignant lyricism of singer-guitarist James Ricci. Backed by the propulsive drumming of Jonah Birenbaum and Kris McKenna's gripping bass licks, "The Regrettables" crams tension and regret, hope and hopelessness, into five songs that are unapologetically rock and roll.
