Calleo’s music, inspired by his travels around the country and the world, is deceptively mellow; most songs start of with easygoing guitar strumming and then slowly build into something multi-layered and surprising. James Calleo is a band comprised of a rotating cast behind singer/songwriter James Calleo. Founded in 2016, James has been years upon years in the making. Emotional songs, at times vocally reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, bring together the challenges and triumphs of this songwriters life. Whether it was growing up in Japan and New Jersey, living amongst Texas Country in San Marcos, battling the rainy season in Tacoma, Washington, hitchhiking the Pacific Coast Highway, backpacking through India, the plethora of experience has created this music. James found solace back in his home state of New Jersey. In the past two years he has become an active member of the Hoboken music scene, playing at local clubs like Maxwells Tavern. James is currently recording their debut album with his yoga teacher and Grammy Award winner, Ben Wisch. The eight song debut is full of layers and added color creating a very warm and organic atmosphere that can be taken anywhere. Acoustically written, and electrically driven.
