When this noise emerges from its shell, it feels so genuine in its simple emotion that you can't help but embrace it. On "Six Foot Solemn Oath," Hansen proudly proclaims, "I feel much better / No I'm never going underground." And you believe him ... the jubilance is sitting right there with you.”- The Weekly Dig, Boston Ma. - The Weekly Dig
In a time when pop has become most people's guilty pleasure, it is as refreshing as it is rare to find a band that is not afraid to explore their genre as innovators rather than unimaginative copycats."

“Boston’s The Grownup Noise is easy like Sunday morning—lazy, warm, and full of the best intentions. The quartet blends sleepy melodies with guitarist-vocalist Paul Hansen’s intelligent croon... The Grownup Noise’s best asset, however is the songwriting, with lines of love and the changing seasons coming out as gently and colorful as the music itself."

“Music Pick: Straight out of Boston in their veggie oil -powered band van, The Grownup Noise is a playfully poppy indie rock quartet with armfuls of groove. Their basic rock instrumentation—drums, guitar and bass—is laced with melodic vocals and stirring cello."

Live Review:
Unique is the word to describe this band... A pretty versatile group all around, and one the audience doesn't want to leave, as they use cell phones in place of lighters to elicit one more song... no argument here. - The Noise

Bio:
From self-titled 2007 debut up through 2011s acclaimed, rousing This Time with Feeling, Bostons The Grownup Noise have bridged the gap between Americana and indie-pop. During that half-decade, the 5 piece ensembles performed with everyone from Kill Rock Stars sensations Thao with the Get Down Stay Down to acclaimed Canadian barnstormers Rock Plaza Central and folk troubadours the Guggenheim Grotto.
After releasing This Time with Feeling, which was mixed and produced by studio wizard Scott Solter (Spoon, Okkervil River, St. Vincent, John Vanderslice), the band spent most of 11 crossing the U.S. on tour culminating in a string of 2012 SXSW dates highlighted by an opening slot for Tommy Stinson of the Replacements. They are currently hard at work on their third album which is slated to be mixed by Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Langhorn Slim, David Wax Museum).
All five members of The Grownup Noise (Paul Hansen - vocals, guitar, keys; Adam Sankowski - bass, keys, vocals; Rachel Arnold - cello, vocals; and Aine Fujioka - drums, vocals), Dave Middleton (Pedal Steel, Keys) are multi-instrumentalists and equal contributors to Feelings umbrella of styles.
Music from their debut was featured prominently during a seasonal climax of MTVs The Real World, and The Tucson Weekly proclaimed that The Grownup Noise are a band that revels in the beauty of a simple melody delivered with minimal enhancement for maximum emotional effect. The Onions A.V. Club raved, The Grownup Noises best asset is the songwriting, with lines of love and the changing seasons coming out as gently and colorful as the music itself." Bostons The Weekly Dig wrote, When this noise emerges from its shell, it feels so genuine in its simple emotion that you can't help but embrace it.
