"It's pretty amazing how well things have started for The Flash Mob," CMB's own D. Scott emphasizes as he tells of his new group. Formed from the separation of two great Denver-based bands, The Flash Mob has seen very rare opportunities in the short while they have been playing together. Asking a few members from the Boondok Saints to join was a challenge for Dave, Kyle, and D. Scott of Ultrachronic: "after those first few weeks of writing, it just didn't feel right for this new band to continue on under the old identity anymore, so we gave ourselves a new one. It's a different style of music, it felt great to start up brand new." Their first single "By My Side" was recorded at Rudy's Studio and immediately picked up by SoBe Beverages to be featured alongside other Denver locals Optimal Frequency and Rhythm Vision on the Pray For Snow compilation that is distributed at skate/snow stores nationwide. As if that wasn't enough for a newly formed group, The Flash Mob is going to be main support for Ziggy Marley on December 6th at Vail Snow Daze in the Dobson Ice Arena. "We are still beside ourselves about the show, to be the only ones opening for Ziggy in front of 3000 people for our fourth live performance as The Flash Mob is just mind blowing, no other words to describe it." - December 2007 - Colorado Music Buzz

Here at Castle Clubhoppery, we keep tabs on the ever-shifting sands of Denver's music scene. So when a band like The Flash Mob just, um, appears (ironic name alert) seemingly having sprung fully-formed from the Rock God's brow, we invite 'em to sit by the hearth and tell us a few things. Like what they have cooking before their inaugural show and CD-release party Saturday at Herman's Hideaway (for discounted tickets, check out theflashmob.net).
* What did The Flash Mob do over the weekend?
The Flash Mob was busy recording some pre-production tracks for our upcoming studio album, did a promo shoot on the roof of Kyle's downtown loft, and reviewed a compilation disc that a track of ours is appearing on and being shipped to 1,400 skate, surf, and snowboard shops nationwide. Individually, Matt Fink (drums, vocals) hung out with his father, who's in town from Maui for a week; Dave Crotser (bass) went to a double-birthday party which, strangely, was comprised primarily of people from Kentucky; Kyle Ingram (vocals, guitar) saw Brandi Carlisle [sic] play at the Gothic, wrote lyrics and practiced on his guitar; and D. Scott Morris (guitar) "flew" in 120-mph winds at the indoor skydiving facility on the south side of town. We really don't know what Wayne Alden (vocals, guitar) did since he lives in Bailey and is more or less "electronically isolated".
* What do you have planned for next week?
On Saturday, The Flash Mob is having our debut show! We're playing with guest turntablist DJ Kaaos, and will be on third out of four bands at the Herman's Hideaway "Halloween Costume Extravaganza" providing main support for Flobots - who are absolutely incredible and leave it all on the stage every single time they play. Also on the bill will be Furious George & the Monster Groove, back after an eight-year hiatus from playing in Denver, and opening will be The Johnson Project. We couldn't ask for a better bill to make our debut at.

Bio
In 2008, The Flash Mob assembled out of the dissolution of two notable Denver bands with the goal of creating an act that combined the best of both: a synergy where rock, reggae, dancehall, hip hop and funk textures come together - creating provocative hybrid stylings that are balanced by persuasive hooks and pop sensibilities. The experiment proved itself to be a success, establishing them as one of Denver's best up and coming acts.
Soon after its formation, interest in The Flash Mob accumulated as quickly as its namesake implied. Opportunities usually reserved for more established acts opened up for the band early in its development - starting with their first studio track, "By My Side", being featured on a nationally-distributed compilation disk alongside tracks by Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, Dirty Heads, Fishbone, Sublime and others. Soon afterward, a debut show providing main support for the nationally-acclaimed rock and hip-hop troop the Flobots followed and was the first of a string of higher-profile live appearances - including support slots for Ziggy Marley and Passafire, and gigs on the summer festival circuit. They then released it's first 7-song EP, "Common Thread," selling well over 1000 copies. The band then released the Limited Edition EP, a 6-song disc that served as a pre-cursor to the forthcoming full-length album "Tactics."
The Flash Mob is Wayne Alden on vocals and guitar, Kyle Ingram on vocals and guitar, Matt Fink on vocals and drums, Dave Crotser on bass and DJ KAAOS on turntables.
