The Covz

Just as many great bands before them, the Covz got their start in a basement, with nothing but a few instruments and a powerful love for music. Armed with a drum kit and an acoustic guitar, the Covz had reached a stalemate; they were nearing college graduation, but their real love was found in music. As an indie band, heavily influenced by the likes of Snow Patrol and the Arctic Monkeys, the Covz quickly gained recognition in Southern California, as well as the interest of Johnny Gleason. Gleason had recently gotten out of his SoCal band, and was looking for a fresh start. Teaming up with the Covz, Gleason began laying down haunting guitar riffs that would soon help to put the band on the map.

With the addition of Gleason, the band was in search of a bassist to fill the gaps and take the group to the next level. Adam Ulissey, a classically trained bassist from the University of Texas, seemingly fell into the groups lap when he happened to find The Covz in mid-practice only a few houses down from where he lived. Whether by coincidence or fate, within a few short months, The Covz had moved to Colorado and established themselves as pioneers of the indie movement.

The Covz have had a busy summer, touring around Colorado and California, with quite a few shows still to come. September 5, the band will be playing a show in Fort Collins at the CSU Center for the Arts.
