WHEELING BAND ANNOUNCES NEW CD RELEASE AT BLUESFEST
The Catch Blues Band’s Premiere CD, “It’s Not Right”
Two inaugural events will coincide for a local blues-rock band this coming weekend. As the Catch Blues Band offers its first performance at the Heritage Music Bluesfest, the group’s premiere CD offering, “It’s Not Right,” will be released. The Wheeling-based band will be playing on the Second Stage this Saturday, August 11, beginning at 1:00 at Wheeling’s Heritage Port.
Offering a combination of traditional blues, with touches of reggae, rock and Latin, “It’s Not Right” is the brainchild of lead singer and guitarist, Mike Roeder. “I’ve had some of these tunes simmering in my ‘song box’ since 1996, but it was the inspiration I took from my fellow band-members that really brought it to life ”, he said.
Along with Roeder, the Catch Blues Band includes Dana Burkhart on bass, Kevin Brosh on keyboards, and John “J.D.” Daner on drums. “Dana and I have been jamming together since I was 8 years old, in fact, he was my first guitar teacher”, explained Roeder. All are Wheeling residents, with the exception of Brosh, who currently resides in Shadyside, Ohio.
All ten cuts of “It’s Not Right” were recorded and mastered in Wheeling at Jamie Peck Productions this summer. Peck, an accomplished saxophone player, plays a “blood
and guts” tenor solo on the CD’s final song, “Please.” Roeder cited many inspirations for the CD, but “especially the music I listened to while growing up in North Wheeling – the Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, Santana and Bob Marley.”
The CD will be available for sale at the Heritage Music Bluesfest at the Wheeling Heritage Port this weekend, and online at CD Baby, iTunes, and through the Catch Blues Band’s website at www.thecatchbluesband.com.

CD REVIEWS
“It’s Not Right” by The Catch Blues Band
The Catch Blues Band is based out of Wheeling W.Va. They released their first CD “It’s Not Right” on Aug 11, 2007 the same day they appeared at the Wheeling Blues Festival.
Mike Roeder is lead guitarist and vocalist. He is also responsible for all the music and lyrics. His playing is alive and exciting. He’s come a long way for a guy whose first guitar was ordered from a Sears & Roebucks catalog.
Dana Burkhart is on bass and admits to having played in a polka band. “It almost ruined my timing”. His music has been influenced mostly by classic rock bands.
Kevin Brosh does keyboards and percussions. As a drummer he once played in a Square Dance band, and includes in his influences Igor Stravinsky, Frank Zappa, The Beatles and Buddy Rich.
John “JD” Daner is the drummer. He is a big Elvis fan and includes Black Sabbath as an influence.
What happens when you mix a Sears catalog guitarist with a polka band member, throw in a square dance drummer and an Elvis fan? Out comes one heck of a good blues band and a great CD. Not much mixing of other styles, pretty much straight blues. The lyrics are very strong especially for a first effort. Strong playing, they mesh well together.
“Ybor City Blues” is my favorite. According to the band “Terry’s Song” could be described as ZZTop jamming with the Beach Boys. Keep your eyes and ears on these guys and catch them live if you can.

Bio
The Catch Blues Band's sound has been described as the blues with a splash of rum , where B.B. King meets Bob Marley, with a Clapton-like vocal. This mixture of genres has earned The Catch Blues Band a dedicated following in the Upper Ohio Valley since the veteran musicians formed the group in 2006.
The four-piece band's distinctive rhythms create an expansive sound. The interplay between London Stadler's elaborate bass lines along with the Latin-influenced percussions created by Johnny Lemmon gives the music a serious depth. When added to the unmistakably blues-like raunchiness of Kevin Brosh's organ and piano accompaniment and topped off with Mike Roeder's distinctive vocal and guitar stylings, The Catch Blues Band will give any blues-lover that back-street blues-battle house feeling.
In August 2007, The Catch Blues Band, in conjunction with their inaugural appearance at the Heritage Music Bluesfest in Wheeling, WV, released their first CD, It's Not Right . It's Not Right is the brainchild of lead singer and guitarist, Mike Roeder. I've had some of these tunes simmering in my 'song box' since 1996, but it was the inspiration I took from my fellow band-members that really brought it to life” he said. All are Wheeling residents, with the exception of Brosh, who currently resides in Shadyside, Ohio.
The band will again be appearing at the Heritage Music Bluesfest this August, and are planning their second release, “Love Me”. Roeder cited many inspirations for the CD, but especially the music I listened to while growing up in North Wheeling – the Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, Santana and Bob Marley.
