Experience the Atlanta based electronic duo The APX. The duo consists of married couple: Singer, Producer and Detroit Native Erika Rhodes alongside her husband Singer, Vocoderist, Keyboardist, Saxophonist, Producer and Atlanta Native Dee Rhodes. They have come together to spread love, energy and electrifying sounds. The APX is here to party and you're cordially invited.

B.O.:
What has been the most incredible moment in your career so far?

ERIKA OF THE APX:
In January 2009, I had the chance to sing at President Obama's inaugarational ball. It was an incredible feeling! Besides that, marrying my husband and being able to do what I love alongside him was (and will forever be) the most incredible moment for me.

DEE OF THE APX:
When I was 12, I got to play saxophone in front of Stevie Wonder at an awards banquet in Atlanta. I also had the chance to meet him and he told me to keep chasing my dreams and that stuck with me to this day. Marrying my wife and starting our musical journey is still something that is big to me. Since our journey as The APX has really just begun I think the incredible career moment is yet to come.

Who would you love to collaborate with in the future?

ERIKA OF THE APX:
That would be a long list haha! We'd love to get together with Chromeo, Classixx, Holy Ghosts, Break Bot, Deadmau5 and Teddy Riley. There's a few local Atlanta artists that we'd love to work with as well including a dope rapper named Piezo Quartz ;)


B.O.:
With the release of your new single, how did it feel recreating a classic? How did you begin the process of arranging your personal sound into it?

DEE OF THE APX:
This song was created and written by one of the most influencial producers of the 80s funk sound: Kashif. Sadly, he passed away this year, so it only felt right to do our part to pay tribute. We wanted to stay true to the original sound since it was so danceable. We took some of our signature drum kits and threw in a heavy synth bass on top to compliment what was already there. I think it's something modern day funk lovers will really enjoy and be able to groove to whether they're in their cars or on the dance floor.

B.O.:
Are there any more upcoming projects or tour dates that we should be on the lookout for?

ERIKA OF THE APX:
We are still working on our debut EP and will release it by summer of 2017! Our tour date schedule will also be released by summer 2017. We are currently talking with the family of the legendary Zapp and Roger Troutman to do a project together as well, which we are very excited about! - Joseph Smith

Colour Sound would like to introduce to you this electrifying funk group from Atlanta, Georgia called The APX (@theapxmusic) With nu-wave disco influences reminiscent of late 1970's funk and dance era, APX sure knows how to create their own unique blend of funk and original content.

The band insist of Dee Rhodes (Keyboards , Producer , Vocals , Saxophone , and Synthesizer) and Ericka Rhodes ( Vocals , Keyboards , Producer , Drum Programming). They mentioned that they are inspired by groups such as Chromeo, Holy Ghost, Dam Funk, etc. This funk Influenced group will sure get you on your feet with their punchy rhythmic melodies and sassy saxophone to fill in smooth ear candy's.

The group states "Our motivation is to bring something different to music world. To show people that the power of love is stronger then anything. We want our music to bring together many different communities and cultures to fuse in a new era of peace and positivity using the power of love and funk!"

Their current debut single is entitled "Capture The Moment" and they are currently working their upcoming EP entitled "Spontaneous" which will be available this summer. They are currently planning to go on tour in the near future. Be sure to check them out! We will keep in touch with them as they progress. -
