This debut is a decent effort rammed with capricious riffing and enhanced by a weighty density, backed by a unique riffing style that makes all the tracks that bit catchier and more accessable. 'They Live' opens the release after an intro with good pacing and a profusion of tempo switches amidst its vicious aggression. Likewise, with 'Sacred Lands' brandishing a down tuned thuggish riff with added blast beat for good measure as the impetus of the album centers around the drum work which I enjoy. The closing title track requires a mention because it is predominantly thrash based with an abundance of riffs and that sense the band could drop a top albums on their next release... if they get around to it. - Powerplay Magazine

The Virulent is a Progressive Thrash Metal band, from heart the bayou city, Houston Texas with its beginnings around 2012. Being influenced by acts such as Megadeth, Kreator, Slayer, Antrhax, Revocation, Warbringer, Exmortus, and Judas Priest, they have been molded by some of metal's greatest offerings. Taking the name “The Virulent” as their symbol to spread their music like a disease with a rapid assault to the senses. Here to bridge the Metal of old together with the modern styles of today by melding fast heavy classic riffing, with searing guitar solos, intricate harmonies, and brutal breakdowns forging a new aggressive sound. Having the desire to bring their metal to the masses, they are not afraid to get down and dirty. Sending their fans into a frenzy, from headbanging to bloody pits. In their time around, they have gathered a solid following always eager to listen to what is new from The Virulent with their new single.
The band is no greenhorn when it comes to the stage, having shared it with bands such as Warbringer, Enforcer, Revocation, Exmortus, Archspire, Black Fast, Black Crown Initiate, Extinction A.D, Here Comes the Kraken, Upon A Burning Body, and Cannabis Corpse. They can hold their own with some of the best bands in the metal scene. They are a band that never fails to deliver with a rapid and technical onslaught to your senses, making The Virulent a force to be reckoned with.
