To venues and promoters, please promote and advertise your show. There’s no reason why a band that has several big rock radio hits such as “Sick”, “Invincible”, and “Dog on a Leash” can’t play in front of more than a handful of people. Local bands, if you’re selling tickets, please make sure that you’re doing all that you can and maybe even put up flyers to get people to come out to the show. Enough of my mini-rant, nevertheless, it was a great night of music. The handful of people were ready for a night of rock music, which should be experienced in person because it’s completely different than playing it on your i-pod or whatnot.
Local, Waterloo, Iowa band The Rumours opened up the night. I definitely appreciated the garage rock feel, and they have a determination to make it in this industry. I enjoyed the songs, “Too Young To Party” and “Seven In Heaven”, and they also did their crowd favorite, which is a cover of a KISS classic entitled “Strutter”. I feel that if this band gets polished and continues to share stages with the likes of Adelita’s Way, Bad Seed Rising, and Acidic(who The Rumours opened for recently in Iowa City), then this band has what it takes to graduate from local to regional and so on and so forth. The Rumours are a Female-Fronted rock n roll band under the influence of real raw and classic rock n roll! The band was formed in April 2014, reformed in April 2015 and has been rocking hard in the Midwest ever since. "We like to describe ourselves as the love child of The Runaways and The Donnas, but Veruca Salt and Liz Phair are our aunts." - says front-woman, Carli Foxx. The band consists of female and male members, but it's clear that feminine power is strong in this band. Even though the influences are mostly female, The Rumours are also inspired by male bands like KISS, Motley Crue, The Stooges, The Ramones, Urge Overkill, Local H,etc.
The Rumours debuted their new and reformed outfit in April 2015 with a date on The Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock tour ft. FLYLEAF. Since April, The Rumours have earned a lot of success as they have shared the stage with bands such as: Dope, Saving Abel,HAIRBALL, Tantric, Biters, Diamante, Flyleaf, Adelitas Way, Local H, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and more!
The Rumours have been working on recording their first album, and are expecting a Spring 2016 Release.
