Bio
The Native Roar was a bit surprised when invited to join the talented array of musicians in Austin, Texas during South by Southwest week 2016. But this gifted five-piece group of young men and their eclectic alternative rock sound has been building a buzz in the Central Texas music scene since they began collaborating a little more than a year ago.
The band’s current evolution, includes front man Ethan Medola, guitarist Mitch Moser, bassist Raymond Ramirez, drummer Nate Keeney and keyboardist Matt Segovia. It formed in 2015 when members, fueled by a mutual interest in songwriting, secured management with Defiant Artist Management and recorded at Gray Matters Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Native Roar has settled into a style that is “both old and new,” a sound they call “raw,” “organic” yet “refined in tone and structure.” The band is influenced by classic icons like Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, the Beatles, and Led Zeppelin as well as the contemporary sounds of Cold War Kids, the Alabama Shakes, and Kings of Leon.
Within less than a year of joining the music scene in Central Texas, The Native Roar has headlined concerts at local universities, heard their music played on multiple radio stations, and began laying down demos for future releases.
Though the group is devoted to its Central Texas fans, members hope to tour the country and share their original songs with new fans along the way, speaking to life struggles that can only be healed through music, opening eyes to what can only be seen through melody, and imparting a message of love, peace and positivity to the world.
