Nobody Performs like MCB!

The Matt Corey Band was a concept that, grew from Matt's saxophone career as a solo artist. Matt had a vision of fronting a band with, the saxophone replacing lead vocals. Not your typical jazz saxophonist performing standard jazz compositions, he sought to perform multiple genres with the band, giving way to Pop, R&B, Funk, as well as, Jazz.

Since it's inception, The Matt Corey Band or, MCB as many fans call it, have performed numerous shows for the NFL, various cruises and, concerts that, include The Canton Symphony and, Grammy Award Winning keyboardist, producer and, member of The Ohio Players, Billy Beck. In addition, MCB has released several projects and, numerous singles since the band's formation in 2013.

Bio:

Matt: With beginnings that, saw him as the star of the sequel to the Tony Award Winning Broadway spectacular Blast!, titled Blast! 2: Shockwave. The show ran at Disney World Florida and, a subsequent 9 month U.S tour. Adding Pink Floyd's Great Gig in the Sky as a duet between Matt and, saxophonist Jessy J, the show was renamed Cyberjam for, a critically acclaimed run at London's Queen's Theatre. The London Theatre Guide noted Matt's performance as "exquisite. Those performances gave way to, Matt touring extensively in the U.S. and, saw him deservedly win the (APCA) "Male Solo Artist of the Year" six years in a row, He is a graduate of Youngstown State University where, he studied Jazz Performance and, Music Education.

Rob J: A musical genius on multiple instruments that include: keyboards, bass and, drums, Rob J brings a certain flavor and appeal to the MCB show. Rob is also an accomplished producer. He has spent time as musical director for Roslyn Pratt and, acclaimed saxophonist Walter Beasley.

Jody: A musical prodigy from the age of 5, Jody plays 5 instruments. The musical director for MCB, he is also the studio producer for the MCB projects. A 2 time MLA Producer of the Year, 1 time Songwriter of the Year and, 3 time nominated Musician of the Year, he brings a level of excellence to their stage performances, as well as, their studio recordings.

Rick:  This guitar mastermind has taken to the stage with the likes of: Arrested Development, The Ohio Players, Hootie & The Blowfish, INXS and, many others.  He also has an extensive production history that, extends to the likes of Anita Baker.  He is prolific at setting the atmosphere ablaze with his deft solos and, harmony laden chords.

The Sound:

The Matt Corey Band cannot be boxed in to a specific sound. They are perfectly capable of presenting multiple genres in the studio and, on stage. However, this is not your grandfather's saxophonist and band! They deliver a full, powerful sound, whether performing covers or, originals while, adding a flair that, is uniquely their own. You will never hear MCB and think, “they sound like...” It isn't what they strive for. They are relentless in presenting a sound that, is indigenous to them and, has been cultivated from, growing up around the 'Ohio Sound' that, came from mega acts, such as: Roger & Zapp, The Ohio Players, The Ojays, Levert, Kool & The Gang and, many others.
