It's easy to get lost in the current swamp of punk rock. A lot of half hearted impersonators have polluted the art form with "product" and uninspired mediocrity. Where are the songs? Where's the energy? Where's the individualism that made it so appealing? Instead of a focus on songwriting and style, it seems to be more caught up in the cult of likability. The Losing Kind are on a mission to change this dire state of affairs and return punk to its eloquent and psychotic natural state. Their latest self titled EP delivers the goods with six scorching tracks of Ramones damaged back-alley punk.
Upbeat and restless, the bratty bourbon singed vocals blend gritty melodies with slashing power chords and uninhibited attitude. Down and out, going and gone, the lyrics address the never ending bad luck cycle of day to day existence. The raging punk rock accompaniment defines the tumultuous ebb and flow of fate with concise dynamics and reckless intensity. Fusing the classic sounds of the Freeze and Zero Boys with the drunken swagger of the Humpers and Joneses, this release rocks hard from start to finish. Your new weekend blackout soundtrack. “The Losing Kind - Loser Punk. Straight up, right from the gutter, blood and spit punk rock. Well, in this case, turns out the "gutter" is right up the 80 freeway from me in Vacaville. Not a place I ever associated with a punk rock scene (or any music scene for that matter) but maybe that's about to change. "Loser" is all flailing buzzsaw guitars, snappy verses and addictive gang choruses, just like the best of punk. Energy, vitality and rawness. Perfect. But there's also some serious chops here. The drums stay right in the pocket without getting sloppy and the bass and guitar run through some nice paces keeping the song rushing forward. Best of all, we're not stuck listening to whiny emo vocals here, but good guttural punk throats. "Three time loser on a winning streak" may be the lyrics here, and I'll tell you, if this song is any indication, that winning streak is about to keep on going.”

Fast, Loud, In your face Punk Rock and Roll. Hailing from Northern California The Losing Kind is returning Punk rock back to its roots. You will find no crazy gimmicks here. It is what it is. Frank Bera, Joe Edwards, And Cary Humphries are continuing their brand and style of music from the days of old. " We are a live band that can record great music" pretty much sums it up. This Trio is not to be missed on the live circuit and a must have on your Rock and Roll playlist. In 2018 The Losing Kind released their debut EP and will be heading back to the studio in 2019 for a full length release. 2018 proved to be a banner year for TLK sharing the stage with the likes of the U.S. Bombs, Michale Graves, Total Chaos, Guttermouth, United Defiance, and others. They show no signs of slowing down in 2019 with shows booked with D.R.I., The Exploited, U.S. Bombs, and many more to come.
