The Fibs
Buffalo, NY | Established. Jan 01, 1986
Bio
As they enter their fourth decade together, The Fibs continue to entertain Western New York audiences with smart songwriting, inspired playing and their irrepressible sense of humor.
Bassist Jim Iarocci, drummer Jim Palys and award-winning guitarist Tom Fenton have taken wildly eclectic influences -- from Bob Dylan to Bob Marley and from Zappa's Mothers to the Neville Brothers -- and developed a repertoire of memorable melodies and infectious grooves featuring thoughtful, witty lyrics.
Formed in the mid-80s as a "comedy rock" recording act, The Fibs' songs were featured regularly on Dr. Demento's syndicated radio show, as well as area college and morning shows. They have since developed into a formidable and well-respected live band who have played every kind of club and opened for everyone from Pete Best to BB King to Weird Al. The albums SCARED HITLESS and PISCES IN CRISES featured both serious and humorous material that showcased their growth as songwriters.
Along the way, the band has explored their love of diverse styles with several side projects: The Dreadbeats are Buffalo's longest running reggae/ska band (their reggae version of "We Three Kings" has had over 15,000 views on YouTube); Mumbo Gumbo plays New Orleans R&B, Cajun and zydeco music; and the Voice of Cheese is an all-star Frank Zappa tribute band.
