THE BUDDY BLAKE BAND
A rock and roll drive with The WHO riding shotgun-Zeppelin, REM and Counting Crows riding in the back of a car once owned by Tom Petty.
A 4 piece Modern Classic Rock band from Northwest Florida comprised of former session players and specialize in a self-contained world of writing, recording, producing and promoting their own unique, yet familiar, sound.
The band features:
Buddy Bolter – Lead Guitar – Guitars (plural)
Blake Bell – Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Keys
Bob Matteson – Drums – Percussion
Tom McMillan – Bass, Keys, Technical aspects
With over a hundred tracks on SoundCloud (and counting); a blistering recording schedule; and a continuous flow of new ideas and projects, the band continues to produce unique, yet familiar, tunes with a universal appeal.
Always recording all parts at the same time for the “Live” in the studio feel, they started out recording on 4 separate laptops with interfaces – Guitars in one; drums in one; bass (mic and line) in one; and vocals in a fourth. After recording the tracks, they would painstakingly match up and recover all the tracks to get the final edits for mixing. “It was out of necessity but worked out well in learning what we needed to do moving ahead,” says Blake. “Nowadays we have a dedicated system with big interface but we still record all the parts at the same time (Live in the studio).”
