Born William Harris, the Raleigh, North Carolina native got his start as a dancer at the tender age of five. He would later become engulfed by the sounds his parents would play in their home, which consisted of soul, rock, and gospel music. He took a liking to both rhythm & blues and hip-hop in its infancy.  His father says that his desire to enetertain was cemented by the likes of an MC Hammer concert he attended when he was just 11. "By the end of the show, he just stared in astonishment. I asked him if anything was wrong and his reply was, 'I know what I want to be when I grow up.'"
