"Premiere: Teens in Trouble - Santa Monica"

Teens in Trouble is a brand-new indie pop/rock band fronted by San Francisco-based singer/songwriter Lizzie Cuevas. Their debut single, Santa Monica will release this fall on Bandcamp and is armed with lovelorn lyrics, dreamy vocal effects and some serious ‘60s girl group harmonies. With pop punk band Sputterdoll and 8-bit rock duo The Glowing Stars already to her name, Lizzie is no stranger to the San Francisco Bay Area music scene

Santa Monica will be available for free on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, and Apple Music on November 25, 2015. Fans will be able to pre-order the Teens in Trouble 7" vinyl on Bandcamp which includes "Santa Monica" and bonus track "Simple." Vinyl orders are expected to ship January 2016.

¨I was born and raised in the San Francisco and have lived in the Bay Area for my whole life except the time I lived in Santa Monica for a year in 2013. It's a city that holds a special place in my heart and time felt like it slowed down while I was there, in a good way.¨ - Lizzie Cuevas - The Deli Magazine

"Premiere: Lust for So-Cal With Teens In Trouble's Debut Single, “Santa Monica”"

When you type “Teens in Trouble” into Google, make sure you also write “band;” otherwise, you'll get a lot of Dr. Phil and WebMD search results about how to deal with troubled teens. As the name suggests, Teens In Trouble has a sense of humor. Their debut single, “Santa Monica,” is a wistful, albeit hyperbolically upbeat ode to the West Los Angeles city by the sea where Lizzie Cuevas, the band's founder, lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter, lived for one year of her life.

“The weather is gorgeous there all the time and it was nice to be like, 'Hey, let's go ride the Ferris Wheel for no other reason than we can,” says Cuevas, who is originally from San Francisco. “I actually didn't appreciate Santa Monica until I moved out.”
[jump] In the song, Cuevas lusts for the So-Cal locale over a lush guitar-driven melody that is both playful and bouncy. The video is a delectable visual tale of a girl (Cuevas) who is out in the desert (Joshua Tree) and searching for the missing part to an old VCR player that, when whole, “reads her DNA and plays a sort of weird, nostalgia reel of where she wants to be,” says Cuevas. Both the video and song were produced and recorded with the help of Cuevas's friends, including writer/director Kyle Broom, producers Alexandra Spector and Morgan Tucker, and sound engineer Sean Paulson.

“Santa Monica” and the B-side single, “Simple,” will be available in vinyl on the band's website, teensintrouble.net.  - SF Weekly

Bio

No longer a teen nor much of a troublemaker, singer/guitarist Lizzie Cuevas is nonetheless familiar with the harshest teenage peril of all: heartbreak. Armed with lovelorn lyrics, dreamy vocal effects, and some serious ‘60s girl group harmonies, Cuevas battles the forces of adolescent angst with a range of sounds from across the indie pop spectrum, from the laid-back summer surf vibes of Best Coast and La Luz to the heavier, moodier melodies of longtime favorite Weezer. If you listen closely, you might even catch some Queen in there.

With pop punk band Sputterdoll and 8-bit rock duo The Glowing Stars already to her name, Lizzie’s latest musical endeavor looks to be her most ambitious yet. Teens in Trouble’s debut single “Santa Monica” is now available on Bandcamp.
