Newcomer Taylor Berrett has taken the music scene by storm with his dreamy voice and killer songwriting skills -- and now his new EP, Anchor Chasing, is available exclusively on iTunes. You might recognize Taylor from his YouTube covers, such as his take on Drake's hit song "Take Care" with singer Vita Chambers, which currently has over 20 000 views! Recently, the 19-year-old hottie stopped by the office to chat with J-14 about everything from his worst date ever to how he got his start in music.
J-14: How did you become interested in music?
Taylor Berrett: My dad was always playing music so music was always around. When I heard a Jack Johnson album for the first time, I realized the chords were easy to play on the guitar and that got me into songwriting and really made me want to learn guitar more.
J-14: Why did you and Vita decide to cover Drake's "Take Care"?
Taylor: We were looking for good covers to do -- and it's just such a good song! The recording Drake did was so haunting and we really wanted to translate that into an acoustic performance but still keep that mood. Vita is such a great singer so she was perfect for singing that part!
J-14: Okay, spill! Who's your celebrity crush?
Taylor: Beyonce is beautiful -- I know Jay-Z has dibs there -- but she's been my celebrity crush for a while!
J-14: Since you sing so much about love and romance, tell us about your best or worst date ever!
Taylor: Burping on a date is a big turn off for me. I think that burping is acceptable when you've been together for awhile, but I refuse to believe that burping isn't something that can be held in if you really tried! I was on a first date once and a girl did this. There are burps and there are belches -- and this was definitely a belch.
J-14: So was there a second date?
Taylor: There was no second date. - j-14.com

Hey M Girls!
New artist Taylor Berrett stopped by the M office last week for a super-fun hang sesh! We chatted with him about everything from his upcoming album to The Hunger Games -- he was such a sweetie.
Check out our Q&A with Taylor here:
M: Can you tell us about your single, "Anchor Chasing?"
Taylor: "Anchor Chasing" was a song I wrote a little bit ago and it deals with the ocean and kind of the imagery there.
M: What other kinds of songs can we expect to hear on your debut album?
Taylor: I go all over the place, sometimes on purpose and sometimes just 'cause I can't help it. I like to have songs that are uplifting and hopeful in some way, so that's kind of the mood or theme that I hope to have throughout my music.
M: Can you tell us some random facts about yourself that readers would be surprised to find out?
Taylor: I'm the pickiest eater ever, I'm horrible at dancing and I LOVE to read!
M: Have you read anything fun recently?
Taylor: I just read The Hunger Games -- those books are so good! I went through all of them in like a week and a half. I just couldn't stop.
M: 'Fess up. Are you Team Peeta or Team Gale?
Taylor: I was kind of back and forth. I think toward the end I was Team Gale. You know what, I'm going to flip-flop. I think Team Peeta was the way to go, because he was more solid. Gale was kind of all over the place and a little bit childish, so I'll go with Team Peeta. I'm going to put my foot down on that - MMM-mag.com

Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Taylor Berrett duets with Bajan songstress Vita Chambers on a cover of Drake and Rihanna’s “Take Care.” Berrett, whose debut EP is due next year, sings and plays guitar on the acoustic version of the mellow track, as Chambers soothes with her calming voice. Both artists are signed to SRP Music Group, home to Rihanna and Shontelle. - Rap-Up.com

In his new video for "Anchor Chasing," singer-songwriter Taylor Berrett sings a fall-at-the-beach love song to the girl of his dreams. They sit by the water and he makes a lot of promises everyone wants to hear and everyone hopes to one day want to make. - Pure Volume

It's not often that a singer-songwriter who's still growing his fan base can keep new viewers engaged during a simple performance video. But Taylor Berrett's new video "Whole Heart" could literally be four minutes of paint drying and we'd still watch it with our eyes peeled.
Taylor's love story plays out in an empty theater. He sings his touching song onstage solo with just a piano, and his vocals are so heartfelt that you can't help but get sucked in. Berrett's piano melodies bring Ben Folds to mind while his gentle, raspy voice reminds us of The Fray's Isaac Slade. In other words, you're probably gonna cry when you listen: "I know I'm failing but I'm trying hard/I swear I'll be there when the tears start/Before the sky comes falling and the seas part/I'm gonna learn to love you with my whole heart."
Taylor Barrett recently signed with SRP, the production company behind some of Rihanna's biggest hits. Makes sense, considering Taylor and Vita Chambers scored a slam dunk on their cover of Drake and Rihanna's "Take Care." Berrett's five-song EP, Anchor Chasing, is out now on iTunes. - MTV
