"Maverick Magazine Review"

Suzy Oleson is one to watch, and if this release is anything to go by, we've hit the jackpot. If Suzy Oleson is a name you don't yet know, it is certainly one you will want to remember. The Austin, Texas native now calls Nashville, Tennessee home -- and right she should. A multi-instrumentalist and talented songwriter, with a strong and powerful voice, she fits right on the contemporary Music City scene. Her newest release, the eponymous SUZY OLESON, is a product of this artist's unique approach and varied influences. After an energetic start, the record offers a taste of almost everything; rock, blues, and country roots, fun and folksy numbers and lovesick ballads reminiscent of the 1950s. It could be argued that this is a modern-Americana masterpiece, lovingly crafted and inspired by everyone from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones. Just One Night has a punchy opening riff that eases effortlessly into a dace-inducing tune, all about that infectious feeling you get when you meet someone new. A big track, a big voice, and lots of fun. It's followed by Sunny Day; a slower, sweeter look at love. This simple song, with some well-executed injections of electric guitar, showcases Oleson's voice and taps into that nostalgic look at lost love we've all experienced. Elsewhere, we have a wonderful medley of strings in the instrumental track Way Out East, and just a touch of sassiness in Have a Little Faith in Me Here. This Time Tomorrow Night is a rockier track that benefits from Oleson's gutsy vocals and some great timing. Not only can most listeners relate to it, but by the end of the first chorus, they'll be rotting for her to get the guy tomorrow night too. There is no mistaking that Oleson knows what she's doing when it comes to making music and this release proves it. So settle down for a look at love, life, and the wider world through the eyes of Suzy Oleson. You'll be glad you did. - Amy Jones

"R2 Magazine UK Album Review"

"Hard-rocking country-blues that owes a debt to British bands such as The Rolling Stones sit alongside more introspective acoustic workouts, on the eponymous debut from Austin-born, Nashville-based Suzy Oleson. Opener 'Come to Me' fairly leaps out of the speakers from the start and sets the tone for an enjoyably varied set." -
