Bio

Deep within the swampy mire of Southern New Jersey, yet footsteps from the placid shoreline of the Delaware Bay, sits a seemingly dilapidated barn, shrouded in mystery and antiquity. Curiosity envelops the passerby, as all tend to speculate about what goes on under the roof of such a hallowed structure.  At the heart of this barn, suspended from the ceiling of the old hayloft, gracefully rests a chandelier of stunning size and elaborate design. It is under the warm light of this chandelier that SugarTape was born and the sound of the barn was unearthed.

Formed in September 2017 by longtime barn resident and musician, Matt Harron, and South Jersey performer, Dean Dunlevy, SugarTape began simply with a focused goal of creating honest music. After being joined by local percussionist, Patrick Haigh, and bassist Karlson Hughes, SugarTape began formulating a library of original music that hearkens back to an era in which Rock and Roll was king. This is evident in their sound, and mixed with an uncanny element of improvisation in their approach towards live events, forms an explosive experience for listeners whether it be on record or in a live setting. They released their debut EP, “Mama’s New Blues,” on May 7, 2018, delivering a well-needed revival of rock music to the local area, building fans and friends organically.

After performing at several events sponsored and held by Southern New Jersey’s leading classic rock radio station, 100.7 WZXL, and after spending only a short time performing in support of “Mama’s New Blues,” SugarTape moved again into the studio. This time joined by lifelong friend and keyboardist, Cameron Friedman, they developed Chandeleidescope, the band’s first full-length release. Currently, the band is performing in support of this release, constantly developing new improvisational techniques, and gathering material for their next studio LP.
