Bio
The tale of Strayin’ Anchors begins with a mythical being named Suwannee Ronnie. Suwannee Ronnie assembled a group of friends that met in the dorms at UNF. He never took no for an answer and slowly everyone learned a few songs and the group (called Dave’s Not Here Band, at the time) opened the Allman Brothers Band’s Wannee Music Festival due to Ronnie’s persistence. Nick Jones and Harry Winston were hooked from that moment forward. Nick and Harry continued to play even after some of the original members parted ways to pursue different callings. Over time the band began to evolve, Steven Trent joined and we actually wrote several of our songs in Stevens's first practice. When Matt Horhota and Aaron Thorla joined, everything started really gelling. Their passion and energy matched with the rest of the band’s. Harry has unbelievable knowledge and passion for the accuracy of his tones on the bass. Steven plays anything with strings which enables him to play with ultimate freedom as his knowledge in playing is unmatched. Aaron is an extremely tasteful songwriter and brings valuable knowledge and precision in his style and taste. Matt is incredibly skilled, creative, passionate, and always shows it live. The audience is always obsessed with him. Nick takes the blue-collar approach and refuses to be outworked as his love and passion are always on display. Every practice we became exponentially better and tighter as a band. We continued to gig and develop original songs even throughout the COVID quarantine. We continue to bring passion and energy through our music and want it shared with large audiences in live settings as we believe that to be the most genuine experience of love and friendship.
