Best Original Band, Best Rock Artist
Storage 24
Back from Best of Jackson's past is local rock band Storage 24. The previous winner of 2007's best Rock Band category, Storage 24's lineup has a few changes. Fronted by original band creator Baby Phred, Storage 24 has added deejay Unkl Ryan, bassist R.C., drummer Daniel G., guitarist Daniel W. and lyricist Kamikaze. Kaze is no stranger to the "Best Of" awards, having won Best Hip-Hop Artist for several years. Infusing heavy rock with elements of R&B, this band is taking off into the music stratosphere. Storage 24 shows are loud, so be prepared to take it all in.
This band can't be described with just one or two genres, having taken aspects of rock, hip-hop and spinning, and fused it into one giant music machine. Recently winning Club De Villa's "Band of the Year" award and a spot playing at MTV's "Spring Break" in Panama City, these familiar faces will be on television in the next few months and has a new album in the works.

TUPELO – First Madison. Then Tupelo. Then the world.
Storage 24 is taking it one step at a time.
The Madison-based rock/rap band dominates its home region, even being voted Best Rock Band in 2007 by readers of the Jackson Free Press. The band, made up of Baby Phred, Unkl Ryan, R.C., Kamikaze, Daniel W. and Daniel G., is bringing its live show to Tupelo this weekend to find a new fanbase.
After that, the group is ready to take on the rest of the planet.
“We want to be the next big rock band,” said lead singer Baby Phred.
But don’t go thinking Storage 24 is a bunch of rock star wannabes. In fact, the band chose its name so it will always be reminded of its humble beginnings.
“We used to practice in a storage bin,” Baby Phred said. “It keeps us humble, because we can never forget where we came from. We know where we came from.”
Just as unique as the band’s name is the band’s sound.
“We’ve been told, sometimes y’all sound like rock, sometimes you sound R&B, sometimes you sound rap. It’s cool. We mixed a little rock, a little R&B and a little rap, so I don’t think you can put us in a category,” he said.
Storage 24 is recording an album now, but the live show is the focus of what the guys do best.
“In the studio, you have to calm down and focus on making the notes perfect,” Baby Phred said. “It’s a wild show. It’s not a typical show where the lead singer pretty much stands in one place. We tear up the stage. Tupelo is gonna be in for a treat.”
Baby Phred invites all music fans to check out what’s already impressed the Madison area.
“We thrive on being the best live, so our live show is incredible,” he said. “We just want to make the fans smile and have a good time.”

"Who are they?: A band comprised of Jackson musicians, Storage 24 combines rock and rap in a style that's reminiscent of Jay-Z's Collaboration with Linkin Park, in that the song structure alternates between nu metal screams and hip-hop interludes"....

Hailing from the southern state of Mississippi with a unique combination of hard rock, hip-hop, R & B and elements of electronica is the band Storage 24. The band is affectionately named for the storage unit it rehearsed in and still holds its humble and honest yet aggressive energy it started with in its early days.
Baby Phred is the brainchild of this dynamic group. Baby Phred originally began his music career with an R&B group called RisquĂŠ, however, over the years his musical interest grew more diverse and in 2000 he formed a rock band called Blindsyde which later changed its name to Storage 24. The band experienced several lineup changes before settling on its current eclectic mix of talented musicians; coming from many styles of the music and cultural world. Joining lead vocalist, songwriter and producer, Baby Phred are Drummer Jeremy Burnham, Guitarist Emmett Shumate and Bassist Matt Phillips.
Storage 24 has shared the stage with the likes of The Black Crowes, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Puddle of Mudd, Ludacris, Coarse of Nature, Black Stone Cherry, Rehab, Atomship, Night Ranger and One Less Reason to name a few. In their hometown of Jackson, Storage 24 was voted #1 rock band in 2007 by The Jackson Free Press and Best Original and Best Rock Band 2010.
