According to his web site, Steve Chizmadia has been playing guitar since he was knee-high to a Gibson J-200. That’s pretty obvious when listening to his song, “Mamou.” The song is introduced by a very beautiful and relaxing melody. The New York-based singer cites the Beatles as one of his influences, but his songs remind me quite a bit of the early Bob Dylan songs.
Chizmadia proves himself to be a prolific lyricist as well as a masterful musician. It’s listening to the words of his songs that really set his music apart from what is considered mainstream. It’s clear that he is a deep thinker and a wise man. That’s clearly reflected in the words of his songs.
Chizmadia’s CD, “It Is What It Is,” is available at his web site, www.stevechizmadia.com. The song, “Mamou” was included in a compilation album called “The 14 Best Singer/Songwriters of Greenwich Village – 2004.”
Chizmadia has a very relevant tune to the current times called “The Wall Street Fat Cat Tax Payer Bail-Out Blues.” The song can be viewed at www.youtube.com/stevechizmadia. - Strum Magazine

The Folk Music Society of Huntington, along with the Huntington Arts Council, presented Long Island with the first annual Huntington Folk Festival at Heckscher Park. Steve Chizmadia was the first artist to perform. Dressed like a cowboy, singing his country/Americana inspired tunes, if he hadn't told the audience, they would have never known he hailed from Brentwood, rather than somewhere down south. He opened with a ballad, Katie Belle, following it up with an original Cajun zydeco inspired tune that still had a strong country feel. After telling the audience about his love for the state of Texas, he played Always Texas. He closed his short set with the rootsy Somewhere Man.
