Bio
When a jazz and classically-trained trumpet player from small-town Ohio becomes a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and music teacher, you get the music of Stephy Leigh Griffin. Her unique voice has been compared to the likes of Loretta Lynn, Wanda Jackson, Miranda Lambert and Emmylou Harris. She plays solo/duo or with her full band, Stephy Leigh & the Lullaby League. You can also hear her play trumpet in one of Arizona’s only 1920s Hot Jazz bands, King Copper. Stephy brings her raw edge to every performance as she tells her story through songs, usually with her dog Dottie in her guitar case or clipped to her overalls. “I don’t journal or keep a diary. I work through my sh*t by figuring out how to summarize it in one simple line. And sometimes that takes years.” Her new record comes out before the year’s end. Stephy recently shared a bill with Niki Lane, Katie Pruitt, and Rising Appalachia at Prescott’s first Pure Imagination Festival. She is proud to represent Prescott, Arizona’s ever-growing Americana music scene.
