Bio
Stephen Kolter has been writing, recording, and performing aural abstractions and catchy ditties for more than 25 years. With the help of his band, he blends multiple instruments with a landscape of electronic background creating music that sounds, at times, like Broken Bells, Wilco, or perhaps Jim James and yet is something entirely unique unto itself. He usually does not sound very much like Cyndie Lauper. He likes Tom Waits but is afraid to sing that way.
His lyrics are deeply humanistic and touch on universal principles that beg answers to questions about who we really are without imposing a direct answer. He aspires to use music to help his listeners find mystical awe with their own place in the universe as it is right at this moment. At the very least he hopes to plant a few ear worms. He is currently recording an album independently.
