Spirit Safe

Spirit Safe is initially comprised of Kevin Janus, James Young and Matt Holmes. The three of them came together in guitar player Matt's home studio where they began to write and record songs during their high school years. Each member came in with different influences and musical background creating a unique collaborative environment. Spirit Safe was born after years of honing in on a sound influenced not only by the modern tunes of bands such as Grizzly Bear, Local Natives, and hometown favorite Wilco, but also the vintage tones of The Beatles and various Motown artists. The band spent all of 2013 writing, demoing, and recording their debut self-titled album due out January 3, 2014. Upon the record's completion, they recruited Dave Valdez (Valaska) to be their bassist and back-up vocalist, as well as Sam Brown (Chasing Mars) to drum. After much work, they are set to play their first show on 1/3/14 at The Burlington in Chicago with Author.
