Soul Glitch

Soul Glitch electrifies the musical experience. An unfolding, shifting, and expanding multi-sensory encounter with music that nourishes the body and soul. A musical technology that constructs and deconstructs the themes of universal connection living inside all of us.

Soul Glitch found its roots in community: fostered by the encouragement of fellow mentors, producers, and musicians, and fueled by the obsession and passion for all forms of media and technology. Over time, Soul Glitch evolved into a fusion of technology and music: a multi-sensory experience of design, video, light and sound.

Nicholas Hasty is the technologist, and Soul Glitch is his project.

For Nicholas, music was ever present. Sound and technology offered him the connective tissue he lacked in his youth: a self-proclaimed social-outcast, Hasty sought solace in the visceral and intellectually stimulating world of music and technology. From his roots in Ukiah, CA to his home in the San Francisco Bay Area; sound, rhythm, and the movement of music coursed through his veins.

Piano, Drums, and Saxophone provided Nicholas with a traditional introduction to channeling his melodic inclination.  At age 12, his love for computers and the ever-evolving landscape of electronics in music production propelled an intuitive passion for pushing the framework of technology past its intended function. Hasty has been finding new and unconventional ways of using these technologies since--and his unique passion has ultimately been the bridge for collective and social connections that were once absent in his childhood.

Now, Hasty’s multidisciplinary approach channels the electronic music that inspired him, the technological, data-bending systems he was drawn to, and his own soulful, visceral connection to the body as an instrument. His dynamic fusion of indietronica, electro-pop and synth-pop genres seamlessly integrates infectious beats with messages of growth and empowerment.

Soul Glitch is a multi-sensory experience taking live Electro-Pop into unexplored territories. A synergy of acoustic instruments, synthesizers, and audio effects in a real-time re-mix of live performance delivers an unshakable reminder of what is possible when you disrupt the established framework of artistic creation.  

Through purposeful layering of synth-heavy production, melodic instrumentation, rich harmonies, and heartfelt vocals, Hasty brings us a cutting-edge, atmospheric experience that transcends the typical musical paradigm.

This is the experience of Soul Glitch. Tuning in to our higher selves and finding meaningful purpose in the interdependency of humanity and all living things through sound, imagery, and visceral sensation.

The culmination of this 3-year project comes at the tail of Hasty’s first album release in May, PRIMIS: an album about growing into himself and shedding that which no longer serves him.

Hasty’s music and performances have been featured in publications such as “Lifoti Magazine”, featured in blogs like “We Write About Music”, “Come Here Floyd” and “Caesar Live N Loud”, and  has been invited to perform at the California State Fair in Sacramento as a featured musical act.

Each piece of music Hasty creates is crafted with exquisite and delicate precision--he puts immense thought and care into his work, and no piece is finished until every ounce of his being is a part of his creation.

When Hasty isn’t thoroughly immersed in his music or creating his own music videos, he spends his time tending to his home garden, connecting with nature, and making his own home-crafted chocolates. These simple pleasures infuse the rich, and grounded nature of his music, constantly fueling his work with the reminder of the earth we all come from.
