LA-based label Plug Research have scooped up Boston electro-soul pop duo Sonnymoon and are preparing for their first full-length debut album. Sonnymoon will be released on May 22, 2012. Today, the duo are releasing their video for the single "Just Before Dawn," a quietly haunting homage to the magic of everyday life. The duo first gained attention with their Drake cover of "Houstatlantavegas" and their Golden Age EP received a lot attention with no PR or label. As the May release of its sophomore full-length album draws closer, Boston-based electro pop duo Sonnymoon has revealed a stream of new single “Just Before Dawn” via its label Plug Research.
Singer Anna Wise and producer Dane Orr create a swath of shimmering synth-laden brush strokes and sporadic low-end punches -- a gentle sound with a dash of psychedelic sultriness. So far, the pair of graduates from Boston’s Berklee College of Music are staying true to the down-tempo aesthetic of such previously released tracks as "Near Me," 2009 debut "Golden Age" and an attention-grabbing take on Drake’s "Houstatlantavegas."
Of local interest, Sonnymoon has also uploaded an alternate take of its new song featuring L.A. based mulch-instrumentalist/composer and Flying Lotus collaborator Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, who superimposes graceful strings on the track. The group will soon be hitting the road with Brainfeeder beatsmith Teebs and Time Wharp from late March to early April.

Bio
Sonnymoon is the brainchild of musicians Dane Orr (NY) Anna Wise (CA) and Joe Welch (VA). Their dynamic journey through an experimental approach to pop music began in 2009 when front woman Anna Wise and producer Dane Orr began making music together after meeting in Boston.
Though they caught the interest of listeners with soothing covers of Drake and Beyonce, the group presents a wide array of sounds. From synthesized textures and samples to hard-hitting drum grooves, Sonnymoon often explores odd meters and unusual musical states, with Wise's vocals guiding the trip.
Sonnymoon has released two albums: Golden Age, Sonnymoon and an EP: 2012. They have shared the stage with The Roots, Shabazz Palaces, Flying Lotus, Teebs, Shigeto, and Gonjasufi. Anna also appears on Kendrick Lamars good kid, m.A.A.d city.
Sonnymoon is currently located in San Francisco, working on their third LP.
