"Something Clever Season of Darkness Review"

"The band continues to be one of my favorite live acts, local or otherwise." -Joe Ford, NC13 Music News - NC13 Music News

"New Music: Something Clever"

The dynamic five-piece band plays tense, textured metal that shifts between thick chunking riffs and flashier guitar work amid vocals that sometimes propel to a scream, vivid bass work, and pummeling rhythms that aren't afraid to pull back when the mood calls for it. - Sound Bites

"Album Review: Something Clever -Season of Darkness-"

"..from the moment they hit the stage to the last note of listening to Season of Darkness, I have to admit I am hooked.." - Get Ready To Rock

"Artist Spotlight: Something Clever"

One of the really cool things about this band is the love that they have for their fans. When I saw them at Clever-CON, not only did I see a great band and experience a great show but I observed how they interacted with their fans after putting on one high energy show. Most bands would retire to their vehicles or go back to their dressing rooms and not come out until everyone has left the building; not them. They hang out with you, talk to you, take pictures with you. When a band takes time to do all those things, it only serves to enhance your experience. I strongly urge you to go and experience Something Clever for yourselves. - Amplified Edge

"Rockwired Magazine Featured Artist"

The future of riff-heavy rock n roll is secured with bands like the North Carolina-based SOMETHING CLEVER who are making a hell of a lot of noise with their latest CD release SEASON OF DARKNESS and the thunderous single FREAKS LIKE YOU where frontman ADAM NELSON cuts loose like a live wire along with some handy ax work from guitarist KELLY FLUSK - Rockwired Magazine

"Season of Darkness Album Review"

"This 5 piece Rock Band out of NC has finally found the PERFECT LINEUP and collectively combined their skills to create the monster known as “Season Of Darkness”.This is one of those new albums heading into 2015 that had me excited, because I knew what this band was capable of putting together and they do not disappoint"

-— Brian Hatchell, The Pit Unsigned - The Pit Unsigned

"Cullis Entertainment Review"

"Something Clever may be a young band but they rock, write, and perform like seasoned veterans. See them now before they go nationwide. You won't regret it." ~Roger Cullis, Cullis Entertainment - Cullis Entertainment

Bio

Something Clever from Charlotte NC has been shredding through the Carolina’s for the past couple of years now.  The reputation of their live shows has demanded quite a bit of attention and is largely responsible for the size of their rapidly growing fanbase.  In 2015 after the release of their EP entitled “Seasons of Darkness”, they rose through the region with national support slots for Escape the Fate, Sons of Texas, All That Remains and more, including their own headlining shows.  The band also produced their own annual event, CleverCon, which is their spin on ComicCon combining and featuring Music, Art, and Video Gaming with over 20 venors and well over 300+ in attendance.

Since the Something Clever originated in 2011 the lineup has changed, the band shifted focus, with a prevalent element of fist-clenching, 'go-for-it' active rock and metal throughout their originally penned songs. Armed with their current lineup of Adam Nelson on vocals, lead guitarist and founding member Kelly Flusk, rhythm guitarist/backing vocalist Brett Baker, bassist/backing vocalist Colt Crevar, and drummer Justin VanDyke, they've honed a new edge to their music, and are leaning into it.

Gaining the attention of several national acts in 2012 with their first EP release produced and engineered by Michael Pepe entitled 'Walk Away', Something Clever shared the stage with Adelita's Way, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Saving Abel, and Sum 41 and ended up #1 in all voting categories at the 2012 Ernie Ball and Rockstar Energy Drink Battle of the Bands for Simpsonville, SC. Something Clever was also commissioned to create music for Charlotte channel WSOC TV's high school football segment for television broadcast, running the last two football seasons straight. During production of their current projects, the band has managed to play with an addition of other contemporary metal/metalcore/hard rock acts such as Like Monroe, Scare Don't Fear, Eyes Set to Kill, I See Stars, Adelita's Way/Red Jumpsuit Apparatus for a second time, Dead Rabbitts, The Relapse Symphony, A Skylit Drive and others. The positive attention of these shows has skyrocketed the band to the number 1 spot on Reverb Nation for metal acts from Charlotte.

Currently Something Clever is gearing up for a Winter/Spring packed full of shows throughout the region including headliners and national supports, once again for Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.  In April they will begin recording their album debut, “Season of Light”, to be released in May at the start of the festival season before heading out on tour in June.  “Season of Light” promises to deliver a growth within the band and a new found sound without straying too far from the very foundation that has brought them so much success.  2016 will be a catapult year for one of the premier rock/metal acts in the southeast.
