"Solomon Jaye’s Ordinary Man Album Review"

Solomon Jaye is a 31 year old Florida native with an incredible voice and an immense amount of talent. He is one of the founding members of the group “The Edge Effect” but now has released his first solo album, Ordinary Man, January 18th, 2016. Jaye has had the honor of being a finalist on “America’s Got Talent,” “Top Pop Group,” and “Next Great A Cappella Group.” His solo career has brought him to performing on cruise ships and opening for acts like Robin Thicke and Sky Blue (LMFAO) at the Florida SunFest Music Festival.

Ordinary Man is a very creative combination of soulful music for every occasion. The album opens with a few very upbeat, happy songs and then works its way to love songs and ends with the very powerful title track. You can see Jaye’s experiences flourish through each song. He says that it’s a “culmination of my time living in New York.” Each song has its own influences and style. Ordinary Man keeps you engaged by changing up the content and style but the real beauty of the album, is even with all the different styles, it still flows together very well.

It’s clear to see that Jaye gets his influences from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s and from a variety of artists such as Otis Redding, James Brown, and Al Green. He even covered Jackie Wilson’s “I Get the Sweetest Feeling” but puts his unique spin to it. Jaye also incorporates horns, clapping, piano, different uses of guitar, and drums. The arrangement is perfect and the vocals really highlight the instrumentation.

If you’re looking for an upbeat and fun album that makes you want to get up and move, look no further. Pick up a copy of Ordinary Man on iTunes, CD Baby, or Google Play.

"Record Review"

“Written by Solomon Jaye, “Monsters” is a smooth-groovin’ duet between Jaye and singer / stage actress, Shoshana Bean. Lyrically similar to a recent hit of a similar name by Eminem and Rihanna, I’m not sure which is the “chicken” or the “egg.” However, Jaye’s is an overall better written and more enjoyable song.” - Christopher Long
