Late yesterday afternoon, ‘Sno Moon dropped its eponymous debut EP. The five-track set begins with the hypnotic hum of “Steady Slumbers,” a left-of-center R&B jam that plays around with rhythms and a heavy metal guitar riff that peeks in and out of the mix. Where the first song showcases Paul Talbot’s slick harmonies, Brooke Vettese impresses with her all-hands-on-deck percussion on the jazz bar ballad “Love x Time.” Things get even weirder on “Heart Shaped Lights,” which could pass as the result of Talbot continuing to do what he does best – sing – even while being abducted by extraterrestrials, and later on “Sight Seldom Seen,” a blues ballad transmitted through a barrel of EDM sound effects. Between Talbot’s honey-coated melodies and Vettese’s buck-the-norm production, the pair clearly has chemistry. Talbot calls Massachusetts home, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for some New England shows in the not-so-distant future. – Jake Reed (@jakejreed) - The Deli Magazine
Long Island based electro prog-pop duo Sno Moon is Paul Jordan Talbot, on vocals and guitar, and up-and-coming beat-maker Brooke Vetesse. Although the two describe themselves as “curly-haired uglies that watch too much Star Wars,” we can assure you that PJ Talbot is a quite pleasant young fellow (he was a Deli intern), and Brooke looks also alright to us (this being said, curly hair and Star War obsession are inexcusable). Despite their low self-esteem, the duo offers a sound that's pleasing to the ear thanks to Paul's soulful vocals and the overall mellow and soft tones. We enjoyed “Heart Shaped Lights,” the most upbeat and bizarre track on the debut self-titled album, but the real gem here is “Shine On” (streaming,) which features a catchy melody immersed in a super chilled vibe with Beach Boys-style vocal harmonies and an ending The Beatles would be proud of. You can see them live when they open for Skyes and Wishes & Thieves next Thursday, June 26th, at Radio Bushwick. - The Deli Magazine

Bio
'Sno Moon formed in late 2013 as a collaboration between electronic composer and producer Brooke Vettese, and singersongwriter/composer Paul Jordan Talbot. We studied music together at Hofstra University on Long Island, and quickly saw something exciting in the myriad of influences we both wanted to apply to our music. The result is something we like to call "Prog-Pop," with clear Contemporary R&B and 60's Psychedelic Rock influences, and some spicy rhythmic fun thrown in. After writing, recording, mixing, and mastering our EP entirely DIY, we formed a 5 peice group for performances adding drummer Jesse Tudda, Bassist Zack Smith, and keyboardist Matt Fishman (Fatt Matt). Since the EP release in May, Sno Moon has been playing various New York City venues, The Rock Shop, Radio Bushwick, and Spike Hill, as well as house parties on the Island and Brooklyn, and opened for such acts as Wishes and Thieves, Skyes, and Z&A, and Christian McBride.
