" What sets me apart is that the person you meet in real life and the person you hear in my music is the same person. I don’t change into this totally different person on stage. I’m very energetic, dramatic at times, outspoken yet sensitive. That’s exactly what my music represents. " - VoyageATL
" Somalia turned her personal experiences into pure art, with a seductive, jazzy, sexy feel. With live performances of her singing with her in London featured in the EP, Somalia was able to showcase her amazing vocals. Listeners could not only listen but could also feel every inch of emotion and pain poured into the EP." - Chatting with Chelse

Bio
Somalia, who was named in honor of fallen women soldiers who died in battle in Mogadishu, is far from the average local artist. She is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and host. Originally from Jersey City, New Jersey but raised in Lithonia,Georgia, she fell in love with the performing arts while participating in her middle school talent show. She was bit by the performing bug and went on to host a teen talk show in high school, where she discussed issues that adolescent youth face. This show aired on Comcast Channel 24, Kweli Tv, and YouTube.
Determined to focus on her passion for music, she went on to study music and Women's Studies at the top HBCU in the country, Spelman College. Upon graduating from college in 2018, she packed out her self-produced debut concert titled “The Sweet Freedom Concert.” Since then she was selected to be a part of the Atlanta Beltline Arts Exhibition where she performed two shows in front of 3,000 people.
Her live performances are proof that her rich and soulful Jazz vocals, laid over R&B, Electronic, and Hip-hop infused tracks, makes it impossible for you to sit still. Her musical palette has been influenced by Jazz, Go-Go, and even reggae music. Her love for R&B music was shaped by the music of Brandy, Jill Scott, Sade, Stevie Wonder, and Lauryn Hill. Somalia uses her melodic vocal range and inspiring lyrics to captivate audiences of all ages. She recently released her second EP titled “Journey.” She's been fortunate to share stages with artists like Keke Wyatt, Kathleen Bertrand, and B Angie B.
