Silver Pools is a brand new project from Canadian music scene vet Todd Macdonald, who played in baroque pop group the Winks, and currently plays drums for the wonderful Loom. His debut solo single “Carbon Cadence” is a deep, reflective, ambient pop gem with a repeating guitar hook that will lazily float about inside your brain all day. - Silent Shout
The Eno-esque melodic work, steady drudging, and, yes, cadence-like emo feel, reflect the well-curated aesthetic of the project: blue hues, the way indecisive skies effect our lives, relentless patience, space race nostalgia and moog synthesizers. - No Fear of Pop
“I’m really excited for this...”
— George Stroumboulopoulos - The Strombo Show - CBC Radio 2
Macdonald delivers a stunning look at the breadth and depth available to talented artists with minds open to create beauty in new ways. One of the best albums of the year so far. - Floorshime Zipper Boots
We’ve been fascinated by Toronto dream pop explorer Todd Macdonald aka Silver Pools before, and we’re very excited to premiere his newest single “Farmhouse”, half of a two-track 10″ coming out this Friday, and the artist’s first new work since his highly memorable debut full-length of last year, Memoirs of an Oblong Sphere.
“Farmhouse” sees Macdonald heading in a more electronic direction with the help of a few comrades, and is joined on this song by Dustin Good on modular synth, with minimal techno producers Matt and Mark Thibideau co-producing the track. A dark and contemplative listen, it’s a spacious electro-ballad thats full of details and beautiful reverb tails. A lovely, weightless song that seems to float in zero gravity, but it’s not without a heavy heart.
The Bleach Cloud/Farmhouse 10-inch is available for ore-order now, digitally or on vinyl, from Bandcamp. And if you’re in Toronto, catch Silver Pools for the release show at Burdock this Friday, and he also has some summer European tour dates, listed at Bandcamp. - Silent Shout

Bio
Silver Pools is a solo dream pop project guided by Todd Macdonald. Blending lush electronics with symbolist poetry, delicate instrumentation and hypnotic rhythms, Silver Pools emerges Macdonald from his previous work with The Winks, Norvaiza, & The New Pornographers.
Building on last year’s lush debut full-length, Memoirs of an Oblong Sphere, Silver Pools has moved into a electro-ballad territory on the new two-track single Bleach Cloud/Farmhouse that is available everywhere digitally or as a limited edition 10” vinyl record via Bandcamp.
Currently based in Toronto, Canada, Macdonald is the chief recording & mixing engineer for The Strombo Show/House of Strombo on CBC Radio 2 / Apple Music and collaborates with fellow songwriters and bands to produce their music.
This summer, Silver Pools is releasing the limited edition two song 10" Bleach Cloud / Farmhouse Single on Subtle Blend Records and will be touring throughout Canada, France, Germany & Poland.

““A low‐key but uplifting symphony of magical beats, electronic signals, subtle trip‐hop tones and elastic sonic layers that expand and contract underwater. Chill‐out vocals coming from an ocean cave, a simple but addictive bassline, and the delicate mandolin complete its distinctive, avant‐garde sonic‐scape.” - Discorder Magazine
