The music made by Fort Worth duo Signals & Alibis ( Rebecca Jozwiak and Brian Carter) is deceptively spare. Upon repeated listens, the carefully assembled layers begin to reveal themselves, fleshing out these austere compositions that defy simple categorization (indeed, the band’s Bandcamp page tags these tracks as “post-punk,” “shoegaze” and “alternative”). Jozwiak, who sings and plays drums and melodica, has a haunting vocal quality that lays against Carter’s languid guitar playing in a way that makes a listener lean closer to the speakers. From chilly opener Eastern Parallel through to the sinister Sick Sea, Signals & Alibis commands attention and makes its marks as a local act worth keeping tabs on. - Preston Jones - DFW.com

Bio
Signals & Alibis was formed in 2010 and enjoyed a degree of local success as a four piece, playing at such venues as Lola's, The Wild Rooster and The Grotto in Fort Worth, as well as The Crown & Harp and The Liquid Lounge in Dallas. The band's last hurrah was a show in Elgin, IL at The Martini Room in September, 2012 where they played a nearly two-hour set.
Signals & Alibis reformed as a duo in January, 2013 and recorded a nine song album, Laid Bare, that featured a few revamped versions of previous songs along with new material.
The band is currently working on a 5 song E.P. and a split E.P. that will be released in 2015.
Their sound can be described as textured goodness with a hint (sometimes a slathering) of edginess.
Music pours out of these guys, and fans describe their sound as ethereal, haunting and absolutely original.
