Bio
Since picking up the guitar at 14, the free-spirited Ohioan, has been in a state of wanderlust traveling the world and sharing her gift of music. Currently based out of Columbus, Ohio, Shonda Holman captivates with sultry sweet vocals and reflective rhymes that makes her style easily distinguishable and unique. “I have a lots of influences in hip hop, pop, folk, and r&b, some heavier than others; mostly I just like creating good music.”
In June 2013, Shonda released her debut EP “La Nouvelle Vague,” a piece she stated was completely inspired by cinema. “The French New Wave was a film movement marked by youth iconoclasm and documentary style filmmaking. I wanted this record to be raw. I didn’t want a lot of instrumentation, I just wanted an organic experience for my musical documentary.”
Shonda kicked off 2016 in a big way with a bold new sound on her EP “Fille Noire.” Showing definitive signs of growth and maturity, Fille Noire is an upbeat fusion of genre and innovation, “As an artist, growth is inevitable and a profound thing. I definitely grew a lot over the past years and I wanted to showcase that I am more than just a singer-songwriter. Ultimately, I wanted to put out an EP that highlights what I am capable of musically and something that I can be proud of.
