Bio
Shifting Tracks was founded by singer/songwriter Bryant Gilley on October 6th of 2010. This Mobile, Alabama based Alternative Indie-Pop/Rock band is an underdog’s artistic response to the current state of our world, brewed from the foundations of a millennial awakening.
In May of 2011, Shifting Tracks recorded its debut self titled EP at Fudge recording studios (released 10/6/12). And took to performing venues around their hometown and adjacent cities. Performance spaces such as The Celtic, Soulkitchen, Blindmule, as well as several local bars.
The following year would bring line up change to the band as well as the foundations for the bands next album. The band’s do-it-yourself second EP Open Doors was released October 2013. But, soon the winds of change were in motion again as another line up change as Bryant was forced to go it alone in May 2014.
But the year would prove to be more fruitful than anticipated. Jim Rose of The Jim Rose Circus discovered the band and offered some insight on how to think like a publicist and work to get press. The band would also headline the Launching Pad Stage of local major music festival Bay Fest that year with the help of a bass player who would later be joining the band. Shifting Tracks also would be discovered and signed to a record released by Wright Records (Patchwork 1/1/2015)
In the fall of 2014 as Bryant was working on Patchwork he was introduced to Chad Cowart. An immediate friendship began and they started working on music.
In 2015 after about a month of rehearsing the group got right to performing. Rocking venues such as The Azalea Manor, Alchemy Tavern, and The High Note as well as their recurring shows at Tropics, Lucky Irish Pub, The Ravenite, and Dauphin Street Blues Company.
During this year Bryant would churn out another album's worth of music for the group to work on and refine. A major milestone in the course and direction of the band took place in the summer of 2015 as the founder purchased a building to turn into a rehearsal hall and recording studio. The same studio they used to create their latest album The Hero's Journey (7-25-16).
Currently the band is working on a stand alone single to be released summer 2017 and another full album to be released early 2018.
Shifting Tracks is a reflection of life itself; constantly changing, evolving.
